E-learning Specialist Consultant
Brief Description:
We are looking for an e-learning specialist to work with our organization on a contract (as-needed) basis to design and implement learning experiences for our members and customers (women’s health, obstetric and neonatal nurses). This position would work with the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric & Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) nurse planners, subject matter experts, and project managers to consult, analyze, and develop highly engaging and interactive learning solutions focused on nursing education.
AWHONN’s Educational Design Process is identified in the following table. We have bolded the e-learning specialist in this process to demonstrate where this position fits into our educational development process:

Job Duties And Responsibilities
Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and Nurse Planner - to design, develop and revise a diverse mix of e-learning programs in enduring formats using a variety of delivery methods including synchronous, asynchronous and hybrid formats. Work with subject matter expert and nurse planner will include the development of innovative ways to impart complex concepts to the target audiences of nurses and other healthcare providers.
Collaborates with project manager to facilitate adherence to production timelines and project budgets from inception through program launch.

• Maintain project documentation and course folders as specified by AWHONN
• Guide and support SME and Nurse Planner in the application of adult learning theories and e-learning best practices into the creation of practical e-learning educational content emphasizing Universal Design for Learning to meet accessibility requirements.
• Provide guidance to SME and Nurse Leaders in the effective use of varied instructional material and learning activities to engage diverse learning needs, including audio, video, graphic, and multimedia.
• Create supporting material/media as required (audio, video, graphic and multimedia including simulations, role plays, games, etc.) to enhance the educational experience of the learner.
• Package educational programs for loading into AWHONN’s Learning Management System.
• Collaborate with SME and Nurse Leader to integrate technology that promotes active learning.

Working Conditions
Remote position
Must be willing to work days, evening, weekends to meet the needs of the contracted project.
Must have access to computer, monitor, keyboard, web conferencing equipment.
Requirements
Qualifications

• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, web design principles, functionality, and usability
• Minimum of 5 years previous working experience in instructional design
• Lesson and curriculum planning skills
• In-depth knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models

Exceptional eye for design aesthetic and knowledge of design trends
Strong proficiency with industry standard design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Storyline and Captivate)
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication and organizational skills.

• Familiar with building healthcare provider educational programs, preferred
• Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio, and video scripts
• Ability to work with independence as well as in small collaborative team environments.
• Must be detail-oriented and ensure that quality standards are met for the educational programs
• Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, Instructional technology, educational technology or similar relevant field required. MA degree preferred.

The hourly range for this Consultancy is $40.00 - $65.00 per hour.
