Role Overview
You will play a vital role in delivering non-financial education services as part of our EduQuality program for affordable private schools. Collaborating with a local team of Education Specialists and working closely with teams across India, you will focus on providing professional development courses to school leaders and teacher mentors. Your efforts will contribute to effective school management, teaching, and learning, as well as holistic school development.
Key Responsibilities
Pathways to Excellence:
Collaborate with in-country Education Specialists to develop and implement a School Self-Assessment and School Development Plan, analyzing school performance across 18 domains of education quality.
Support the establishment of school development planning teams and provide training to school leaders and teachers using digital resources for each education quality domain.
Cluster Development
Foster the creation of effective school Clusters by assisting in the development of a Cluster governance committee.
Create an annual schedule of Cluster Meetings for school leaders and teacher mentors.
Facilitate collaboration across Clusters, organizing enriching activities such as sports competitions, debate teams, and arts exhibitions.
School Leader Professional Development
Deliver School Leadership Professional Development training, focusing on leadership and management best practices, budgeting, marketing and branding, financial management, staff engagement and retention, and more.
Provide guidance, feedback, and support to school leaders in coordination with School Support Specialists.
Teacher Mentor Professional Development
Enhance the mentorship capacity of teachers through Joint Practice Development (JPD), either independently or in collaboration with external trainers.
Learning & Knowledge Management
Document and share case studies of ongoing effective practices and innovations with internal and external stakeholders.
Collaborate with learning partners engaged with the EduFinance program to evaluate effectiveness and impact.
Qualifications
A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in education development, pre-primary or primary education, early literacy and reading development, or special education, including school leadership or teacher professional development.
Prior experience as a classroom teacher at pre-primary and primary levels for 2-3 years.
Postgraduate degree in school-based education or education development, with significant experience in the basic education sector (a graduate degree is preferred).
Strong understanding of the education sector, school curriculum, school environment, and language/literacy needs in Tamil.
Proficient in writing, data collection, and ICT skills, including Microsoft Office, EdTech, learning management systems, data collection tools, and mobile tablets.
Ability to manage contract negotiations with external vendors and handle internal work-related expenses.
Experience working within cross-cultural global organizations and NGOs is preferred.
Preferred experience in education management, including school leadership and working in remote/rural areas.
Previous teaching/education/policy fellowship experience is a plus.

Language Skills
Excellent written and verbal fluency in English and Tamil is required.
Must be able to attend and actively participate in meetings conducted in English.
Travel Requirements
Up to 80% domestic travel is required, and having access to a personal vehicle is strongly preferred.
Flexibility and willingness to travel independently and with minimal notice.
