Job Description
AEDD Preschool is looking for a fun, energetic, outgoing person to be a part of our education team. This person will be responsible for supervising 5 infant/toddler classrooms, and Teachers Aides. This position works closely with certified teachers to ensure all goals and objectives are met for the children. This person will assist with creating classroom lesson plans, writing quarterly reports, organizing and directing classrooms and maintaining ration within the classrooms they supervise. Immediate hire requires High School Diploma or GED, CDA/Paraprofessional or 2 years working with Developmentally Disabled in a classroom setting and 1 supervisory experience preferred. Arkansas Teaching License preferred (salary adjustment made for special eductation teaching license). Must be at least 21 years of age and able to pass both a drug screen and criminal background checks. EOE/M/F


Rate of Pay: $28,000 Annual Salary


Hours: 7:30am - 3:30pm


Job Summary: The Education Coordinator provides technical assistance, mentoring, and training to classroom staff to ensure behavior and classroom management. Will work closely with Certified Teachers to deploy culturally responsive integrated services to children with developmental disabilities. Will work closely with classroom staff to enhance children's cognitive, social, and emotional development through training, guidance and redirection.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned.


  • Works closely with classroom staff and parents to ensure appropriate behavior management as needed.
  • Conducts weekly classroom monitoring to ensure guidelines of Governing Agencies are being met.
  • Completes education quarterlies by the 10th of each month for all children 6 weeks 2yrs, upon completion deliver to Service Coordination.
  • Maintains 36 continuing education hours annually.
  • Maintains filing system for Education to include datasheets, classroom sign in and out sheets and goals and objectives.
  • Works closely with classroom staff, Certified Teachers and Service Coordination to ensure children's needs are met as outlined by Governing Regulatory Agencies.
  • Ensures that classroom staff assesses and evaluates individual progress on a daily basis, by reviewing datasheets for accuracy. Reviews and signs datasheets weekly to ensure data has been properly collected for billing.
  • Approves leave for classroom staff, and manages time off calendar.
  • Works closely with Certified Teachers to create SGSCLC annual activity calendar.
  • Ensure all classroom new hires obtains job description, supervisor-employee orientation, 3 days classroom/ datasheet training and register for TAPP online.
  • Monitors morning and afternoon outside play time to ensure all governing agencies safety regulations are met.
  • Works closely with Certified Teachers to conduct weekly Lead Teacher meeting.
  • Ensures that all classroom staff obtains 25 hours of TAPP training annually by working closely with staff to assist with scheduling age appropriate training.
  • Maintains ratio for all classrooms by checking ratio at least twice daily, or more frequently if needed to ensure compliance in accordance to Department of Human Services Child Care Minimum Licensing Standards.


Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises Teacher Aides staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or GED, CDA/Paraprofessional or 2 years working with Developmentally Disabled in a classroom setting and 1 supervisory experience preferred.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CPR/First Aid, Arkansas Driver's License, Auto Liability Insurance as needed TB skin test recommended.


Safety Sensitive Position: This is a safety sensitive position as it involves operating a motor vehicle as part of the job duties and a lapse of attention could result in injury, illness, or death to the consumers being transported. See Ark. Const. Amend. 98 2(25). All positions classified as safety must refrain from reporting to work or being subject to duty while their ability to perform job duties is impaired due to the use of alcohol or other drugs. All positions classified as safety sensitive are prohibited from testing positive for metabolites of substances that are listed in the schedules of the Federal Controlled Substances Act and the Arkansas Uniform Controlled Substances Act, regardless of whether the employee possesses a medical marijuana registry identification card. See id. at 3(f)(3)(B)(iii). This policy applies during all work hours, whenever conducting business for AEDD.
