About this position

This position is responsible for supervising and evaluating child development staff within one of the organization’s school-age programs. The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively, work both independently and collaboratively within a small, close-knit team, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for someone with an upbeat, positive attitude who is eager to support the organization’s mission and achieve its strategic goals.

What you’ll be doing

  • Communicating program needs to the department director;
  • Promoting participation in in-service training;
  • Maintaining current knowledge of licensing from funding sources and licensing authorities;
  • Using sensitivity and good judgment when interacting with children, parents, and staff;
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • Working effectively with other team members;
  • Accurately completing all assigned paperwork and documentation on a timely basis, according to organization policies and procedures;
  • Conducting and documenting required site visits;
  • Representing the program and the organization in the community and with other agencies;
  • Working effectively with the Program Innovations Department to meet the needs of teaching staff;
  • Reading and implementing all organization and program policies and procedures;
  • Coordinating with other components for the effective and unified delivery of all program services;
  • Assisting the department director as needed;
  • Establishing and maintaining appropriate staffing to ensure compliance with program requirements (including substituting as needed);
  • Participating in the development of the annual program plan assessments and program reviews;
  • Promoting full enrollment and assisting the Recruitment and Outreach Department in the recruitment of children as directed;
  • Modeling appropriate teaching strategies;
  • Maintaining current knowledge in child development theory and practice, including program curriculum;

What you bring to the table

  • Four years of professional teaching experience in a child development program;
  • Current certification in pediatric CPR (yearly) and pediatric first aid (yearly) which is acceptable to community care licensing (Health and Safety code 1596.866);
  • Two years of supervisory experience in a child development setting;
  • Bachelor’s degree in child development, education, or related field;
  • Command of Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or Vietnamese (preferred);
  • Child development site supervisor permit;
  • Ability to correctly and effectively communicate in written and oral English;
  • California driver’s license, daily use of an automobile, and current automobile liability insurance;
