Instructional Support Technician II
ECST – Dean’s Office


Salary Range: $4180 - $7254/Monthly


Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; non-exempt classification.


Essential Functions: Under the general supervision of the ECST (Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology) Dean’s Designee who manages technical operations in the College, the incumbent will provide comprehensive support services for inter-departmental curriculum with an emphasis in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Technology. The incumbent will exercise knowledge and judgment related to properly managing scientific materials and maintaining various electro-mechanical equipment. The incumbent will be expected to operate, troubleshoot, and make routine repair of educational support equipment/instrumentation for departments and will assist other technical staff, faculty and students with special projects, experiments, and related work. The incumbent will act as a liaison with CE, ME, TECH department faculty and technical staff to ascertain equipment needs and is expected to maintain records of supplies, materials, components, replacement parts, equipment and instrumentation. The incumbent will assist with the installation of new laboratory instructional and research related equipment, help faculty and students in the independent use of equipment, and assist with maintaining lab safety procedures and protocols.


Required Qualifications & Experience: Equivalent to a graduation from a four-year college or university, or two years of college coursework with 16 semester units in courses involving extensive use of materials, supplies, or equipment and in a discipline related to the area to which assigned. Three years of experience providing instructional support services for a related unit or discipline, or in producing materials or supplies, or repairing equipment in a discipline related to the area to which assigned. Knowledge of the instructional principles, methods, and techniques related to the discipline with particular emphasis in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Technology fields. Demonstrated teamwork skills and an ability to collaborate with co-workers having diverse skills and backgrounds. Ability to: plan, organize, and schedule activities; operate electro-mechanical equipment related to the discipline; maintain material and maintenance records; and adjust and perform routine maintenance of technical and scientific equipment. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment.
