The Role

Our growing Environmental team is in search of a motivated and enthusiastic Ecologist who thrives on fostering technical excellence, delivering exciting transportation projects with multidisciplinary teams, wants to be in a company who values professional growth and career development. As an integral part of our growth strategy, you will extend your expertise on-site as an extension of staff at a major state agency, while occasionally conducting crucial fieldwork.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Data entry and tracking of project statuses and schedules from concept development through agency clearance.
  • Assist in the development of scopes and budgets for ecology tasks.
  • Assist with the completion of documentation and technical aspects of NEPA/GEPA.
  • Responsible for leading or assisting field efforts, with experience in wetland delineation and identification of water of the US; Protected species habitat assessment; Section 404 permitting, stream buffer variance permitting.
  • Perform duties as an extension of staff at a major state agency in the ecology department.
  • Provide quality reviews of reports prepared by others.

The Person

  • Knowledge in wetland delineation and identification of water of the US; Protected species habitat assessment; Section 404 permitting, stream buffer variance permitting.
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in relevant field (ecology, biology, forestry, aquatics, or related field)
  • Strong technical and scientific writing skills with experience preparing ecology reports and permits.
  • 3+ years’ experience relevant professional experience
  • Additional skills that would be a value add include: DOT experience, GIS experience, basic understanding of NEPA, and experience in meeting with and conducting consultations with the USACE, USFWS, NOAA
  • Communicates effectively with clients and fosters a positive working relationship with the client
