Job Description


The Director, Human Resources - Corporate Groups will focus on the development and delivery of human capital strategy, consult with business leaders to objectively drive people aspects of business performance, strategize organizational design, leverage people analytics to inform business and talent strategy and be a coach and advisor to senior business leaders.


This role will be providing strategic HR guidance and leverage programs and methodologies created by Centers of Excellence to do so. The Director will also lead and manage Corporate Groups HR delivery. This role will primarily support the following global Corporate Groups based at 200 5th Avenue headquarters: Product & Communications (including Marketing, Merchandising, Home & Accessories), Human Resources, Sustainability, Legal, Executive Administration, and Commercial (Retail Excellence, Global Client Relations, and Global Omni/eCommerce). This represents a business partner group of 20 Vice Presidents and ~500+ employees.


Workforce & Organization


  • Survey the organizational landscape in order to propose, develop and locally implement strategic HR initiatives that support business success while furthering the TCO Global HR mission
  • Act as a constant conduit for communication between leaders and Centers of Excellence to ensure the identification and development of strategic initiatives to meet business needs (i.e. strategic staffing, employee relations, compensation, training, workforce planning, organization redesign, localizing large scale corporate projects)
  • At as a thought partner and coach to functional vice presidents
  • Identify themes and trends in HR/functional areas as evidenced by observations and conversations across clients. Work with business partners and HR Leadership to develop effective solutions
  • Demonstrate depth of knowledge in functional HR areas: employee relations, compensation & benefits, training and organizational development, strategic staffing/recruitment and apply that knowledge to influence others towards successful solutions
  • Partner with Employee Relations on escalated matters and provide coaching to the business
  • Develop and employee engagement strategies and action planning, curated to the respective business function
  • Manage organizational risk in application and implementation of all policies and practices in a consultative manner
  • Deliver internal excellence while balancing neutral/objective role of HR
  • Leverage and apply talent analytics and insights with business leaders
  • Identify compensation and benefits trends/shortfalls/opportunities. Work with Global Total Rewards to review appropriate data to ensure programs as competitive
  • Lead organization design reviews through consultative partnerships and expertise/knowledge of the business and talent


Talent Strategy


  • Recruiting for key executive positions (e.g., participation in assessment panels)
  • Facilitate performance management processes and bench strength analysis with senior business partners
  • Facilitate succession planning processes with senior business partners
  • Responsible for aligning business objectives with talent strategy, in partnership with the Dir-Talent Management for Corporate Groups. This individual will act as a trusted advisor, developing a strong knowledge base of their business partners functions and business objectives. They maintain an effective level of business literacy about the business’ financial position, its culture and its competition. The Director leverages talent and people data to guide the business in making effective decisions with measurable outcomes.

  • Maintain close working relationships with the DEI team and support resources, such as Mgr-Talent Acquisition, DEI.

Program Delivery


  • Collaborate with COE’s (Total Rewards, Global Talent, HR Systems, Employee Relations & Internal Communications) and Business initially and throughout the strategic delivery of various programs


Qualifications:


  • Minimum 8-12 years HR experience, including HR Generalist, preferably supporting corporate client groups
  • Demonstrated expertise & proven success in HR service delivery to senior leaders
  • Strong leadership skills and experience managing direct report(s)
  • Must be organized, detail oriented, demonstrated project management skills, able to work independently and handle multiple priorities/projects simultaneously
  • General business acumen, demonstrated analytical and creative thinking ability
  • Experience and comfort working with agility, assessing situations and curating solutions based on big picture dynamics
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • BA/BS or relevant work experience
  • Strong consultative, coaching, communication, partnership and influence skills


The hiring range for this position ranges from $154,120 - $224,640. The rate of pay offered will be dependent upon candidates' relevant skills and experience. Management is also eligible for bonus.
