Job Description
A market leading software company located north of Boston, MA is actively seeking to hire a Director, Sales Order Operations on a permanent basis. The Director, Sales Order Operations will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the daily operations in the Sales Operations group. This includes continuously improving processes, designing systems, and planning for the Quote to Cash process. A significant part of this Director, Sales Order Operations role will involve conducting thorough reviews of Quote to Cash activities, with a specific emphasis on following revenue recognition rules, ensuring accurate revenue reconciliation, and complying with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations. It will be essential to ensure adherence to all policies and established practices throughout these activities.


Responsibilities Of The Director, Sales Order Operations Will Include


  • Creating and maintaining training materials, internal documentation, and ISO-related documents.
  • Enhancing training methods for support staff in a high transaction environment, focusing on simplicity and effectiveness.
  • Strategizing, implementing, and analyzing the impact of business initiatives in partnership with leadership.
  • Reviewing sales programs and non-standard orders to address any issues related to revenue recognition.
  • Developing and implementing processes, procedures, and reports to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and revenue recognition rules.
  • Setting and communicating goals and action plans to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
  • Aligning the group with accounting standards and best practices.
  • Collaborating with Contract Administration to ensure customer contracts protect the company financially.
  • Resolving issues with salespeople or customers regarding bookings, pricing, and revenue recognition policies.
  • Defining metrics to measure order quality and turnaround time, and taking corrective action if needed.
  • Improving departmental efficiency and customer experience through continuous improvement methods.
  • Coordinating with Manufacturing for delivery dates and communicating them to sales or customers.
  • Generating periodic reports on order tracking and status.
  • Ensuring proper management and retention of department and customer files.
  • Working with different teams (Field Sales, Finance, Marketing, etc.) to share information and insights.
  • Leading and supporting the Sales Operations team, identifying their strengths and weaknesses, and providing training and motivation in a fast-paced environment.
  • Overseeing the daily activities of the team to ensure orders are entered accurately and on time.


Qualifications Include


  • B.S. in Finance or Business Administration
  • Understanding of ASC 606 (revenue recognition)
  • Experience with SaaS models and Subscription Strategies preferred
  • 10+ years of Sales or Revenue Operations or Finance operations experience
  • Strong Order Management Operations Experience
  • Strong Leadership skills
