Job Description

Terremoto is seeking a talented and highly motivated Director of Program Management to manage the cross-functional product development and commercialization planning and execution for Terremoto’s lead product candidate, which is currently in preclinical stage. Here is a unique opportunity to join a promising, blue-chip-funded Series A biotech as its first Program Management hire, with the ability to define the function, develop department infrastructure and processes, and the potential to build out a team as Terremoto’s pipeline advances. This position will be a key member of the Program Leadership Team and will be accountable for developing and managing integrated project plans to support advancement of the program through preclinical and clinical development, regulatory submission, manufacturing and commercialization. The Director of Program Management will report to Terremoto’s VP of Business Development.


Major Responsibilities

  • Develop, validate, and maintain integrated project plans to support advancement of the program through preclinical and clinical development, regulatory submission, manufacturing and commercialization
  • Organize and coordinate core team meetings and facilitate the meetings to drive efficient discussion, alignment and decision making; offer opinions and provide pushback where needed to help advance discussions and move forward program goals
  • Build and leverage relationships and networks to improve and enhance team dynamics; proactively identifying opportunities and removing obstacles
  • Manage the operations of the Program Leadership Team, working in close partnership with the Program Lead and other functional heads (including Research, Development, Regulatory, Clinical Operations, BD)
  • Drive cross-functional resource planning, project budgets, due diligence and capacity assessments
  • Collaborate with BD and IR/Finance teams to develop internal and external presentation materials relating to the program
  • Drive program risk management via scenario planning and proactive identification of key risks; facilitate risk mitigation and contingency planning
  • Plan, track, and manage program milestones, goals, KPIs, program budget and dependencies


Requirements and Qualifications

Education:

· Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree (MS/MBA, MD or PhD) in biomedical sciences, business or other discipline related to drug development highly preferred


Required Experience:

  • Experience setting and maintaining budgets; experience preparing presentations at the executive and/or board level
  • Experience managing projects across preclinical and clinical stages; experience leading cross functional activities through IND submission preferred
  • Drug development knowledge, with understanding of other functions relevant to the position, which may include Discovery, Preclinical Research, Clinical Development, Regulatory, Manufacturing and Commercial; experience in oncology or small molecule therapeutics a plus
  • At least 3-5 years in program/project management at a drug development company
  • Experience leading and facilitating project team meetings, cross-functional communication and decision making, and ensuring ongoing alignment with internal and external stakeholders
  • 5-10 years of relevant biotech or pharmaceutical industry experience


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills; ability to influence across multiple functions, effectively work with different personalities and styles, and build alignment with different types of stakeholders
  • Enthusiasm for Terremoto’s vision and mission
  • Knowledge of project management and presentation tools (Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong organization and planning skills; ability to offer structure and definition to projects and to hold self and others accountable to deadlines
  • Comfortable navigating complexity and ambiguity in a fast-paced environment; ability to juggle multiple workstreams while staying organized
  • Proactive and strategic thinking, with strong problem solving and issue resolution skills
  • Strong business acumen and judgment; ability to articulate project objectives and priorities and work efficiently and resourcefully to move projects forward
