Director of Social Svc - E_Social Svc Dept-701
The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Director of Social Services for the Sarasota County Area Command located in Sarasota County, Florida
Job Summary
Plans, directs, coordinates, supervises, and monitorsthe administration of social service programs within the Programs department including but not limited to;Pathway of Hope, Emergency Financial Services,Thrift StoreVouchersand Short/Long-Term Recovery to include Disaster Case Management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of social service program development and administration.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of grant processes and administration.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of budget administration. Knowledge of the principles and practices of public relations.
Knowledge of the procedures for applying for, securing, and maintaining grant funding.
Knowledge of contract management to include effective administration.
Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations governing social service programs. Knowledge of social service resources and agencies in the community.
Knowledge of effective communication and motivation practices. Ability to motivate, lead, supervise, and evaluate subordinate personnel.
Ability to provide leadership in the community to promote program services. Ability to perform public speaking.
Ability to develop, implement and enforce program policies and procedures.
Ability to audit client records and ensure accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work or a related field, and
Four years progressively responsible experience administering social service programs with at least two years
in a supervisory capacity, or
any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and
abilities.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid state driver’s license required.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write and communicate the English language. Ability to perform mathematical computations.
Ability to perform public speaking.
Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.
Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Some driving between locations will be required.
Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
