Job Description
Are you ready to drive the clean energy revolution forward? Join an award-winning clean energy company on a mission to make renewable energy accessible to every household, including low-income populations and communities of color. We're dedicated to ensuring an equitable and widespread transition to clean energy by simplifying and making it more affordable for homeowners, businesses, and renters to go solar.
As the Director of Sales, you'll play a pivotal role in propelling our company to new heights of growth. If you're an organized, ambitious, and mission-driven team player with extensive experience in the clean energy space, we want to hear from you! Join us in managing our expanding sales organization, which includes a Partnerships team focused on B2B sales and channel partnerships, and an Enrollments team handling B2C sales. You'll also pioneer large enterprise partnerships to meet the clean energy needs of prominent corporations, further driving our success.
Your Role
Lead and mentor a talented team of 10 sales professionals, overseeing the Partnerships team that forges alliances with community-based organizations, non-profits, municipalities, and others, as well as the Channels team that works with third-party organizations on our behalf.
Champion the Enrollments team, assisting customers through the enrollment process to ensure their seamless transition to clean energy.
Develop and cultivate relationships with large corporate and real estate enterprises to establish and maintain crucial partnerships.
Set and achieve individual and team goals, providing guidance and support, while continuously refining our sales strategies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on initiatives, including Marketing, Business Development, and Customer Success, to create an exceptional customer experience.
Drive the creation of a new Enterprise sales channel catering to socially-concerned, multinational corporations seeking national clean energy solutions.
Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of sales and outreach approaches, making necessary adjustments to optimize performance.
Work with solar developer partners during customer acquisition campaigns, reporting on progress and market trends.
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in the Clean Energy market.
5+ years of successful sales management, including inbound and outbound sales teams.
Demonstrated proficiency in using consultative sales techniques, preferably within the clean energy industry.
Proven track record of building relationships with C-level executives and navigating enterprise-level decision-making landscapes.
Familiarity with Salesforce.com; experience with Outreach.io and Hubspot is a plus.
Ability to establish sales processes and structures from the ground up, while effectively tracking and improving KPIs and metrics.
Prior experience growing sales teams in startup environments and/or the clean energy sector.
Strong passion for our mission and the ability to communicate our value proposition with enthusiasm.
Knowledge of key stakeholders in the target geographic regions (Northeast US, specifically NY, IL, NJ, and MA).
Previous experience selling through third-party partnerships and working with municipalities, nonprofits, and community outreach organizations.
Willingness to travel as needed.
Benefits
As a Director of Sales, you'll enjoy:
Deep insights into the solar and renewable energy industry, especially the thriving community solar sector.
Hands-on experience in the dynamic and rapidly growing cleantech space.
Personal interaction with executive management and the opportunity to influence our mission positively.
The knowledge that your work contributes to environmental and social impact every day, advancing clean energy savings and solar projects worldwide while fostering a more just and equitable energy industry.
Additional Employee Benefits
Competitive salary, dental coverage, and inclusive healthcare, including expense reimbursement for out-of-state reproductive care.
401k with matching, professional development annual stipend, and gender-neutral paid parental leave policy.
Five weeks of PTO a year, including a holiday office closure for ~1.5 weeks in late December.
Flexible personal time to handle errands and appointments without using PTO.
Remote work option from within the United States.
A supportive and compassionate team of like-minded individuals dedicated to our mission.
Join Us
At our company, we're not just passionate about clean energy—we're committed to equity and inclusion. As an equal-opportunity employer, we value diversity and strive to provide opportunities for marginalized communities in the clean energy transition. Our team enjoys a fun and inclusive culture with monthly outings, solar farm field trips, and all-team strategy retreats.
Take the first step in making a difference. Apply now and become a part of our mission-driven and passionate team!
