Job Description

Weiss Memorial Hospital is growing. We seek an Experienced Director of RN Quality Management.

Responsible for facilitating Patient Safety and Quality; supports documentation improvement through the Clinical Documentation Management Program and coordinates the QRM Committee for purposes of oversight and coordination of organizational improvement.

1. Develops the Patient Quality Plan in keeping with the Hospital’s quality mission and regulatory requirements.

2. Quality Management activities including assessment surveys, readiness surveys, internal audits, occurrence investigations root cause analysis and Peer Review activities. Tracks and trends data. Evaluates and makes recommendations for improvement in report to Executive Council, and Board of Directors.

3. Identifies and evaluates potential loss exposure throughout the Hospital and recommends methods to minimize, prevent, or manage loss to the institution. Provides consultation to departments and staff.

4. Facilitates and manages the Hospital QA, Performance Improvement activities and Core Measures. Coordinates Physician M&Ms advises Physicians on hospital QA process, and serves as organizational resource.

5. Establishes a goal to increase reporting and prior notification statistics.

6. Develops screening criteria and methodology for monitoring of patient care using resources from literature as well as collaboration with physicians and other professional staff responsible for patient care.

7. Coordinates quality improvement teams and patient safety initiatives. Serves as resource to various teams in accordance with hospital Quality plan. Coordinates and presents documentation of processes and results. Identifies educational needs and plans programs and coordinates communication of goals and outside resources to all employees.

8. Designs activities to promote and publicize implementation of patient safety program to employees, medical staff members, the community and health care industry. Monitors progress and makes recommendations required to facilitate implementation.

9. Develops and implements policies and procedures, and establishes internal controls to safeguard the assets of the organization. Makes recommendations for revisions.

10. Directs and administers various surveys (IDPH, JCAHO CMS IFQHC, etc.) of clinical areas.

11. Monitors budget to continue to assess productivity and performance margins and any opportunities for revenue enhancement or expense reductions.

12. Advises departments on compliance with all regulatory agencies governing health care delivery and the rules of accrediting bodies. Continually monitors operations, programs, and physical properties. Initiates appropriate changes.

13. Maintains current knowledge of regulatory requirements and ensures that these are followed.

14. Participates on or leads committees, focus groups, or task forces as defined.

MUST HAVE:

1. Bachelors Registered Nurse; Masters preferred

2. 3-5 years of progressive clinical and management experience in health care

3. Excellent analytical ability and strategic planning skills

4. Excellent oral and written communication skills

5. Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated mentoring and coaching capabilities

6. Current knowledge of JCAHO and IDPH standards to coordinate and assist with surveys
