Job Description
SAHG is currently seeking a Director of Purchasing to join our team. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, and vendor management. They should also possess excellent leadership and communication skills.
The Director of Purchasing will be responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies, negotiating contracts, and ensuring that all purchases meet quality, delivery, and cost standards. They will work closely with various departments, including finance, operations, and sales, to ensure that all procurement needs are met.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of driving cost savings and improving supplier performance. They will be able to effectively manage supplier relationships and identify opportunities for process improvement. Additionally, they will be able to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.

Job summary:
The Director of Purchasing is in charge of supervising the process of sourcing and purchasing essential materials for the operations of SA Hospitality Group. The duties include researching and evaluating raw material suppliers and comparing costs, negotiating purchase agreements, and developing inventory controls across all entities. Directing and overseeing the operations of mail, warehouse & receiving.
Qualifications:
  • Creative problem solver who thrives when presented with a challenge.
  • 7+ years prior experience in a retail procurement role with passion for wine, liquor, and beverage.
  • Able to translate user needs into technical requirements appropriate to the specific product/ industry and convey requirements to vendors in a clear and effective manner.
  • Strong analytical skills; Ability to strategically think, logistically plan and proactively problem solve.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and company policies regarding purchasing, vendor relations, and sales tax.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays, as required.
  • Self-directed and able to work without supervision; comfortable in a leadership and team-player role.
  • Broad and in-depth knowledge of food & beverage, paper, smallwares and equipment, China/Glass/Silver, and uniform industries.
  • Comfortable and operates with integrity in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated experience collaborating and communicating within restaurants.
  • Understanding of product specifications, costs, performance levels, suitability for SAHG environment, after-purchase maintenance needs.
  • Competent proficiency in Microsoft Office and overall computer skills.
  • Ability to obtain clear communication of needs from user community through a combination of diplomacy and precise requirements gathering.
Responsibilities:
  • Drive efficiencies and continuous improvement across the end-to-end procurement process, handling solutions for Out of Stocks and communicating solutions globally, communicating with vendors for late/missed deliveries.
  • Administer approved policies and procedures pertaining to the selection of vendors, controlling costs, ensuring quality, and maintaining inventory levels.
  • With the Directors of Retail, Finance and restaurant locations play a lead role in managing SAHG’s profit & loss (P&L) to ensure financial targets are consistently met or exceeded.
  • Constantly educate yourself on the latest fine food trends, local and global.
  • Assists GMs/Dos/VPs/Bev Managers in maintaining/lower budgeted beverage/controllable costs.
  • Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and prepares market analysis reports.
  • Ensure the Procurement function and team consistently meet or exceed their targets, goals, and objectives.
  • Compiles, codes, categorizes, calculates, tabulates, audits, or verifies information or data.
  • Provides information to supervisors and co-workers by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Ensures that proper safeguards are in effect for the security of the smallwares/paper goods/beverage storeroom assets.
  • Acts as business partner to food and beverage operations to ensure highest quality food at lowest possible prices.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee consistent execution with SAHG procurement vision and strategy.
  • Manage team who reviews and input menu changes and assist in related inventory operations across locations.
  • Arranges for disposal of surplus materials.
  • Oversees the operations of purchasing and maintains appropriate inventory levels, adjust with the seasonal fluctuations in business.
  • Utilize inventory management software to create, edit, and track ingredients and recipes for restaurants across SAHG for use in POS systems.
  • Be at the forefront of culinary trends, secure exclusive product launches, and plan new ideas and strategies for new product launches.
  • Act effectively as a SAHG management team senior member, making critical leadership contributions in business areas beyond your immediate responsibility.
  • Enforces item use-up with warehouse personnel and restaurant management to keep inventory at lowest level possible levels.
  • Participate in the value analysis of products. Make recommendations to user departments regarding savings, improved quality, better performance and/or when alternative service is more cost effective.
  • Administrative work for invoice gathering/adjusting; obtaining competitive vendor bids and communicating for approval to ownership.
  • As a leader of the team, you will cross-train and provide support to other areas, as needed.
  • Supports generating and providing accurate and timely results in the form of reports, presentations,
  • Beverage, China/Glass/Silver, smallwares, and equipment purchasing project work, such as new vendor & product sourcing, cost analysis, reporting.
  • Supports period end inventory according to Food and Beverage and Accounting standard operation procedures.
  • The unique and often difficult operating conditions at SAHG (lack of storage space, challenging. delivery logistics, event load / product usage, uncertain demand, long lead times) require this individual to develop creative solutions to address purchasing and inventory requirements.
  • Uses existing computer programs to perform daily and period end COGS and beverage costs.
  • Determining pars for products stored in our Warehouse to service NY, CO, IT, and FL.
  • Develop, implement, and manage procurement systems and processes to ensure SAHG meets its strategic, financial, and operational targets and objectives for all procurement categories and activities.

It is understood that as Director of Purchasing you will stay informed on market trends, related developments including laws and compliance regarding product safety, and industry better practices.
The base pay range for this position is a salary range of $150,000 - $170,000 per year. The determination of what a specific employee in this job classification is paid within the range depends on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, prior employment history/job-related knowledge, qualifications and skills, etc.
