Role Summary:
Rivian seeks a pioneering, action-oriented automotive product communications Director to play an instrumental leadership role in the creation of Rivian’s Product Communications organization. With a focus on automotive product communications, you will have excellent media relations skills and strong judgement. Experience in creating proactive campaigns, crisis communications and content development skills are crucial in addition to a love for cars.

You will be passionate about Rivian, sustainability, climate, an excellent problem solver and strategic thinker, a fast learner and able to focus on the details.

To be successful in this role, you must thrive in fast paced, ambiguous and unexpected environments, tackling all challenges with a flexible and solution-oriented mindset. You will know how to remove blockers and work cross-functionally to achieve alignment among internal stakeholders. You will report directly into the Senior Director of Product Communications.

Responsibilities:
  • Capitalize Rivian’s brand-leading storytelling around Spaces
  • Counsel cross-functional partners in engineering, product, design, legal, sustainability and other groups within the company on communications considerations for product
  • Extend and deepen Rivian’s relationships beyond traditional media to include new platforms, verticals, and creators
  • Develop and execute strategic product communications plans which highlight Rivian’s vehicles across platforms; ranging from digital and social media engagements to tailored events to partnershipsand beyond
  • Partner with Brand & Marketing stakeholders to ensure a fully integrated approach to Rivian’s brand messaging
  • Build, mentor, and lead a talented diverse team delivering world-class campaigns
  • Leverage technical knowledge and passion for Rivian’s mobility innovations to craft and deliver compelling auto brand narrativesglobally to a broad audience
  • Use KPI data to assess the impact of communications initiatives, refine tactics, and iterate; visualize data and share it in meaningful ways
  • Advise cross-functional partners to influence communication narratives that powerfully position Rivian’s product innovations
Qualifications:
  • Established relationships with key members of industry media; demonstrated reputation as a trusted source
  • Deep automotive/autonomous vehicle technology domain expertise
  • Ability to develop successful collaborative cross-functional relationships which achieve results
  • Track record of building and deploying industry-leading, multi-channel, earned media programs
  • 12+ years of successfully thriving in highly dynamic, deadline-driven, communications environments
  • Demonstrated storytelling capabilities
  • Experience hiring and developing high-performing and impactful teams
Pay Disclosure:

Salary Range for California Based Applicants: $189,000-$217,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).


Benefits Summary:
Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
