Job Description

SUMMARY

The Director of Operations will be reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and leading a team of 4-5 direct reports with a total team of 40+ employees. As a member of the Management Team, you will oversee all facets of the production, warehousing, order fulfillment and facility management activities. Within a technical oriented and growing environment, you will have an opportunity to ensure and improve performance, productivity, efficiency, and profitability of the operations department – through design, implementation and leadership of effective methods, policies, and strategies.


LOCATION

Onsite at HexArmor’s new corporate headquarters in Grand Rapids, Michigan


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Builds, develops, and manages team capable of carrying out needed operations strategies.
  • Utilizes continuous improvement techniques and process redesign to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Key contributor to the facility expansion project
  • Manage and coordinate production and processing activities of industrial organization; meet quality and volume requirements.
  • Formulates and implements operating policies and objectives or changes in existing policies and objectives.
  • Ensures personnel for the operation are properly trained and fully informed.
  • Manage inventory cycle counts and ensure their accuracy and update appropriately in SAP.
  • Drives key projects to deliver productivity objectives outlined by business.
  • Ensures compliance with and implementation of approved policies and objectives.
  • Work with sales leadership to establish and ensure that customer service level requirements are met
  • Initiate and coordinate inventory and cost control programs.
  • Review processing schedules and production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements and staffing requirements.
  • Oversee operational programs, including the facility’s safety program
  • Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems.
  • Additional responsibilities include creating an environment where the HexArmor culture is embraced and reflected by operations team members. This includes leading existing team members and orientation of new team members to work hard, have fun, and treat others the way we want to be treated.
  • Oversee all receiving, order fulfillment and shipping activities for the facilities


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of business and management principles and practices, basic financial and accounting principles and practices, and project management principles and practices.
  • Organizational effectiveness and operations management.
  • Experienced with use of Information Technology and automation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, identify and address problems, meet deadlines and manage labor effectively and efficiently.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, commerce, management, industrial technology or industrial engineering is required.
  • 7 to 10 years’ experience in same or similar position.
