Job Description

General Purpose of Job

Lead and provide guidance to support the daily operations of the Intensive Family Services Teams which serve children and families through early interventions and intensive non judicial case management to prevent children and families from entering the system of care. This position also has direct oversight of adjunct programs who serve families such as Peer Recovery, Family Law, and Safety Management Services. The purpose is to work collaboratively with Child Protective Investigations to support and supervise the assessment, coordination, and delivery of identified services and treatment. The Intensive Family Services Team will be required to review family assessments and ongoing documentation as well as participate in staffings to ensure parental progress and to maintain child safety and well-being.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

¨ Directly supervise the Intensive Family Services Team Supervisors. This includes directing, motivating, and evaluating the performance of assigned staff and implementing training and developing programs, evaluating staff growth plans and development.

¨ Evaluate, coordinate, and ensure necessary services and/or treatment are provided at the correct level to achieve safety, permanency, and well-being of all referred children and their families. Ensure assessments and safety plans are completed in a timely manner and are sufficient to control danger threats.

¨ Ensure Safety Management Services are available to families at the correct intensity to control danger threats.

¨ Work in partnership with Family Law attorneys to divert children and families from the dependency system.

¨ Foster relationships between family members, partners, community members, and the education system. Identify and understand what resources are available and build and maintain effective working relationships within a network of systems. Ability to network with, educate and involve community stakeholders.

¨ Provide consultation and supervision to staff on an ongoing basis to ensure families are being serviced appropriately, timely and efficiently.

¨ Complete reviews on cases assigned to staff to ensure the validity and accuracy of the work completed, timely and thorough documentation, and connection and linkage to services.

¨ Collect, track and provide data to identify trends and service needs.

¨ Develop and maintain relationships with Child Protective Investigations to ensure strong, positive working relationships.

¨ Attend community meetings, conferences and initiatives as needed.

¨ Apply critical thinking and knowledge of community resources to create strategies and interventions to provide services to families and prevent children from entering the dependency system.

¨ Review and monitor case files for both internal and external quality assurance standards.

¨ Supervise staff including regular individual and group staff meetings and case consultation.

¨ Provide support to staff dealing with crisis management; provide on-going assistance in coordinating services for clients.

¨ Provide guidance to staff by coaching, motivating, training, and providing other staff development activities, and develop training and staff development plans with each staff member.

¨ Assist with the identification of staff training needs; provide and/or arrange training for new and existing staff on a regular basis.

¨ Ensure service delivery complies with contractual requirements.

¨ Prepare and conduct staff performance evaluations, including progressive discipline when appropriate.

¨ Maintain and generate necessary reports and paperwork in a timely manner.

¨ Provide direct casework in the absence of service staff.

¨ Participate in the quality improvement process.

¨ Participate in staffing’s and meetings with other supervisors, administrators, and outside agencies.

¨ Collect, analyze, and report data in area of supervision.

¨ Treat all clients, co-workers and colleagues with courtesy, respect, and dignity.

¨ Adhere to safety standards in the workplace.

¨ Advise supervisor of significant events and pertinent issues

¨ Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times.

¨ Must be available to staff, families, and management after hours and weekends in the event of a crisis or an emergency.

¨ Other duties may be assigned as special projects may be requested.


Education and Experience

¨ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Human Services or other related field; and

¨ Official transcripts are a mandatory requirement

¨ A minimum of five (5) years of child welfare related experience

¨ A minimum of three (3) years in a supervisory role.

¨ Must have a working knowledge of community services.

¨ Excellent organizational, communication, computer, and problem-solving skills are a must; and

¨ Must have the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships.

¨ Child Welfare Certification Required.


Other Qualifications

¨ Must have knowledge of child welfare processes and rules and be able to use Florida Safe Families Network on-line data.

¨ Ability to work as a team member.

¨ Excellent organizational, communication and computer skills

¨ Ability to work flexible hours.

¨ Sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the agency’s staff and clients

¨ Adherence to professional ethics

¨ Ability to observe and assess staff’s abilities in interacting appropriately and effectively with families, children, community resources, service providers, and other professionals.

¨ Ability to assess case manager’s performance and develop performance improvement plans.

¨ Ability to conduct thorough case staffings and other meetings.
