PURPOSE


El Buen Samaritano Episcopal Mission (“El Buen”) is seeking a Director of Grants and Contracts to engage in grant researching and writing activities in support of the organization’s strategic fundraising efforts. Position is responsible for the preparation of proposals and grant applications, the research and identification of private grant opportunities, the development and implementation of funding calendar activities, the engagement of program officers at organizations to solicit invitations, and the submission of required reports to funders.


This position will be on campus at El Buen headquarters. This is a salaried position Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with ability to work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings, weekends, and events.


Essential Functions


Grant Writing: Research, Development, and Submission (45%)


  • Stays connected with grant-making organizations during their review of a submitted grant application to supply additional supportive material.
  • Develops and manages a grants and reports tracking system.
  • Compiles, writes, and edits all grant applications/LOIs/RFPs/proposals, exhibiting strong expository writing skills and a high-level command of grammar and spelling.
  • Develops individual grant proposals in accordance with each grant-making organization’s preferences and follows exactly each grant-making organization’s guidelines.
  • Researches grant-making organizations to identify funding prospects and open awards that fit El Buen’s strategic priorities.
  • Work with leadership, finance, and program staff to develop and conceptualize proposals.
  • Reviews the budget of a project or program for which funding is sought and makes recommendations to better present it to grant-making organizations.
  • Acquires and maintains sound knowledge and understanding of the organization and uses that knowledge and understanding to better comprehend all projects and programs for which grants will be sought and to recommend the seeking of grants.


Contract Management and Reporting (40%)


  • Works with Director of Programs to track reporting requirements and prepare and submit grant reports to funders illustrating funding status, budget adherence and performance metrics. Ensures all reports are submitted on time.
  • Serves as a liaison to all grant-funding organizations and entities.
  • Tracks reporting requirements and works with Director of Programs to ensure all reports are submitted on time.
  • Ensures all contracts are reviewed, signed, and executed in collaboration with the Director of Finance.
  • Works with Director of Programs and Director of Finance to monitor that grant program and budget requirements are met throughout the grant term.


Post Award Notifications (10%)


  • Set up post award funding (PAF) meetings with Director of Programs, Finance, and Program staff responsible for the approved proposal.


Other Requirements (5%)


  • Participate in emergency response operations as needed to address community disasters.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Experience developing and monitoring budgets, submitting reports to funders and/or donors.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of employee, donor, benefactor, and constituent information.
  • Through working knowledge of grant writing and fundraising practices and procedures.
  • Prefer (4 -7) years professional grant writing experience within a nonprofit environment (portfolio required).
  • Experience writing, reporting, and managing government contracts.
  • CRM experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in the use of a personal computer, specifically Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Public Administration, Business, Nonprofit Management, Social Work, or other related field and Master’s degree preferred
  • Excellent writing skills, and proven ability to construct clear and compelling proposals.


SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:


  • Provides support to Development department projects as needed
  • Works with Communications to develop agency wide reports to include Impact Report, Comprehensive Board Reports, as well as quarterly newsletters highlighting El Buen’s work.

Job Type: Full-time


Annual Salary $90,000 - $100,000 (To commensurate with experience)
