The A.C Coy Company has an immediate need for a Director of Engineering. Ideal candidate must have at least 10-12 Years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Develops and supports business development objectives, focused on understanding customer requirements and implementing safe, high-quality, and efficient production processes.
• Monitors engineering performance regarding overall cost-effectiveness, product quality, and productivity.
• Maintains and directs a culture of “safety first” across the entire employee population.
• Develops standard work practices to maintain and improve equipment utilization and optimization.
• Provides technical guidance and serves as a resource for engineers. Ensures that components, materials, and tools are used to capacity.
• Develops the engineering team to create a culture of team work and actively engage the team to leverage strengths and achieve business objectives, develop site specific policies, and establish responsibilities and procedures for attaining objectives.
• Develops and directs long-term and short-term strategies to allow the company to remain competitive, achieve targets, and reduce costs.
• Responsible for planning engineering programs, reviewing design and method recommendations, purchasing equipment, and ensuring that engineering activities align with organizational objectives.
• Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Develops and directs new engineering processes, technologies, and manufacturing requirements to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials.
• Coordinates, plans, and directs the activities of outside contractors and equipment manufacturers for major capital and/or repair projects.
• Coordinates cross functionally as needed for technical expertise.
• Develops and directs improved facility performance in respect of people, materials, qualify levels and equipment.

Qualifications

Education

• Required Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Engineering or related field.
• Master’s Degree a plus
• Six-Sigma training / Certifications preferred

Experience

• 12+ years related experience
• Strong organizational skills, and ability to effectively disseminate information in a clear and concise manner
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, vendors and employees of the organization.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
• Highly motivated, self-driven, and eager to learn and apply new skills
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
• Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, team building, and problem-solving skills are required.
• A desire to work in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment
• Ability to define problems quickly, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Must drive for results.
