Job Description
Milacron is looking for a Director, Global Engineering Processes and VAVE to join our team in Batavia, OH. As a Director, Global Engineering Processes and VAVE you will be responsible for driving standardization to reduce overall cost of manufacture, reduce time to design, improve serviceability, enhance the customer experience, and increase consistency of our products. You will collaborate with all manufacturing locations and other functional areas to optimize their effectiveness in meeting Key Performance Metrics. This individual should specialize in designing and developing procedures and strategies to enhance the value of products in a global organization.

What you’ll do:


  • Coordinate with Operations/Materials/Sourcing to minimize waste and drive a VAVE and lean culture
  • Provide Management with regular feedback on performance of technical issues, project issues, processes/tools, and team member performance.
  • Global Value Analysis: works with all engineering groups and other cross functional teams to drive and deliver value to customers through features and cost reduction. Identify the lowest cost way and ensuring the highest worth to accomplish the functions of a product, process or service
  • Delegate work assignments and ensure proper execution.
  • Value Engineering: target costing and effective cost management, cost avoidance or cost reduction before and after production release.
  • Ensure customer requirements are clearly understood, drive closure on open requirements, and verify requirements are satisfied.
  • Partner with Operations/Manufacturing to ensure quality, on-time releases.
  • Coordinate with other Engineering functions such as Electrical, Mechanical/Hydraulic, and Injection to ensure latest cost and quality improvements are implemented in a robust manner.
  • Oversee estimating effort on VAVE projects and track progress.
  • Identify risks, document, prioritize, mitigate, and communicate.
  • Set priorities based on value to deliver set targets
  • Global Standardization: Identifies or defines the best practices of all functional areas within Engineering; documents, trains, deploys, and maintains these practices. Identifies or defines design building blocks or re-use elements with proven value and performance and promotes the deployment and sustainment of these elements.]
  • Continuously review and forecast team capacity/demand and escalate any resource issues in a timely manner.
  • Provide daily direction to track and assigned priories globally.


Basic Requirements:


  • Demonstrated ability to effectively delegate tasks
  • Deep experience with Change Management
  • Ability to identify technical risks and develop solutions
  • Strong communicator able to provide detailed information in a concise manner and be able to tailor communications to different audiences
  • Proven record for solving complex technical issues in a structured manner
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Relevant experience with mechanical analysis and tolerance/fit analysis
  • Leadership experience in cross-functional engineering disciplines with an emphasis on standardization and common processes
  • Solid performance with CREO, Windchill, and E1
  • General knowledge of all forms of plastic processing machinery and design
  • Experience in global VAVE design and project execution
