The Continuous Improvement Director (Operational Excellence Director) will collaborate with our COMS Team (Creation Operation Management System) to drive significant improvements to all areas of our value stream, from receipt of orders through planning, supply chain (internal & external), manufacturing, and distribution. This position will collaboratively lead continuous improvement efforts with existing functions, leading analysis and implementing changes that impact issues affecting the BU’s ability to supply high-quality products to our customers. Upon establishing a solid foundation, a more structured continuous improvement strategy will be implemented through facilitation and coordination of initiatives for the BU, aligning the Continuous improvement philosophy into day-to-day operational excellence. Utilizing projects and kaizen events, as part of the agreed Continuous Improvement (CI) Roadmap, this role will be critical in driving changes and getting results that align with company goals and strategy.

DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not limited to:

  • Develop and deliver training material, coaching, and mentoring related to Lean & Six Sigma principles, and data-driven decision-making
  • Emphasize and set up use of visual management on the shop floor to drive everyday problem solving and to ensure attainment of financial commitments
  • Proactively lead and contribute to cost reduction and improvement initiatives
  • Support the development of new products and manufacturing processes
  • While working within a specific Business Unit, also participate as a member of the Global Continuous Improvement team
  • Work with the leadership team to identify a clear CI Roadmap linked to our strategic development plans and facilitate kaizen events to ensure improvements are followed through, presented, and reported
  • Lead and facilitate kaizen events, delivering breakthrough and sustainable results
  • Support the Senior Leadership Team in driving and developing a lean manufacturing culture by using Kaizan tools, including SMED, Standard Work and Value Stream Mapping
  • Mentor teams during early stages of lean implementation to ensure forward momentum is maintained
  • Actively support the culture change towards continuous improvement by training, developing, implementing and maintaining improvement processes using operational excellence tools

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt preferred
  • Technical and operational continuous improvement leadership (5+ years)
  • Experience working in a lean manufacturing environment (3-5 years)
  • Experience in technical presentations, training and customer relations
  • Lead / Facilitated multiple kaizen events, delivering breakthrough and sustainable results

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Adept at coaching and mentoring
  • Proven ability to lead others in use of Six Sigma problem-solving methodology and rigor

  • In depth knowledge of Lean including:
