Job Description
At Sonos we want to create the ultimate listening experience for our customers and know that it starts by listening to each other. As part of the Sonos team, you’ll collaborate with people of all styles, skill sets, and backgrounds to realize our vision while fostering a community where everyone feels included and empowered to do the best work of their lives.

We are looking for an extremely entrepreneurial and creative leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, and is deeply connected to music culture, to lead the Content & Editorial team for our first party content service. This leader is responsible for the development and execution of Sonos Radio’s content strategy that will drive long term cultural and business growth by focusing on driving engagement and building the service’s brand. This role will report to the General Manager, and lead a small team responsible for our content curation.

This role can be done from home

Building the world’s leading sound experience starts with the experience we provide for our people. That’s why we’ve been distributed from the start: initially between offices in Boston & Santa Barbara, and now with additional offices in Seattle, San Francisco & Paris. This role can be done from anywhere in the United States- any of our offices, or remotely from home. It’s about impact, not location.

What You’ll Do

  • Establish the editorial voice for the evolving Sonos Radio service.
  • Define clear success metrics for the Content team, and measure performance against targets.
  • Manage and direct the team responsible for content editorial, programming, and merchandising.
  • Create a differentiated content strategy for the rapidly evolving Sonos Radio service that delivers an engaging experience, and drives and retains paid subscribers.
  • Partner with Brand Design to evolve Sonos Radio’s visual identity.
  • Partner with Label Relations to acquire necessary licensing.
  • Work to further amplify Sonos as an active and meaningful player in the music industry.
  • Engage with Marketing, CRM and Partnership teams to enhance our campaigns, so that we maximize customer acquisition and retention, and drive content brand growth.
  • Partner with product and technology teams to develop a roadmap that ensures delivery of editorial tools that facilitate the best content delivery experience.
  • Collaborate with Product to identify the content offering in free and paid tiers in order to maximize acquisition and retention.
  • Partner with Artist Relations to identify opportunities to work with artists and labels for partnership and promotion to realize our goals.

About You

Research shows that candidates from underrepresented backgrounds often don't apply for roles if they don't meet all the criteria. If you don’t have 100% of the skills listed, we strongly encourage you to apply if interested.

  • You have a deep understanding of the music industry and the dynamics of streaming platforms, label relations and artist relations.
  • You have a high bar for creative quality and execution, with the ability to inspire and bring a team along.
  • You have managed large, multifaceted budgets with the ability to maximize creative output.
  • You are an expert in internal and external collaboration, setting a clear vision, communicating clearly and executing with excellence, and balancing priorities across a dynamic product and business landscape.
  • You are creative and deeply connected to culture. You have a keen sense of audio and visual aesthetic.
  • You have 5+ years experience managing a team
  • You have experience in content development and/or production in the audio or music space.
