Description


The Director of Communications & Marketing will drive the strategy, design, and implementation of Surgo Health’s overall communications strategy. This person will bring a creative multimedia approach to communications and content development. We are looking for a creative and versatile marketing and communications professional who will build Surgo’s brand and position in the healthcare technology ecosystem. As our first communications hire, this is a phenomenal opportunity to create the communications agenda and build the brand for a new health tech startup changing the game for personalized healthcare.


What you’ll achieve:
  • Branding and Strategy
  • Position Surgo Health’s products with messaging and materials to support client pitches, partner meetings, and other interactions
  • Develop, oversee, and support a thought leadership strategy for the CEO and senior leadership
  • Communicate Surgo Health’s work and brand across a multitude of mediums (e.g. data viz, storytelling, articles) and media platforms
  • Lead branding, website, and other materials for a new company launch
  • Support the leadership with internal communications
  • Develop and oversee Surgo’s brand and strategic communications vision
  • Set and implement media relations strategy, including developing and maintaining relationships with media and journalists
  • Manage our joint communications efforts with partners, clients, and investors
  • Media and Partner Engagement
  • Develop and implement social media strategy to meet communication goals
  • Manage and oversee vendors and contractors, determining the right talent and support to meet our goals


About you:


  • Experience with media outreach working with journalists and media outlets
  • A minimum of 7 - 10 years in a role involving communications, marketing, and/or PR
  • Experience working in tech, health, and/or startup companies preferred
  • Ability to effectively alternate between thinking strategically and executing high quality tactics
  • Self-starter with a passion for elevating brands in health and tech through creative campaigns
  • Strong eye for visual design when reviewing materials created by vendors and team
  • Passionate about data and demonstrated ability to convert data insights into simple stories using diverse set of mediums (written, visual)
  • Collaborative team player who can work effectively in a matrixed, fast-moving, startup environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and proven ability to position for different formats, platforms, and audiences
