HID SIPS is a leading innovator in lighting technology, and we're on a mission to transform the bedside hydration industry with our cutting-edge products. Our team is planning to successfully launch several innovative hydration solutions, including the HydraLamp, one of the first lighting systems in the world with these features.
As the Director of Business Development for HID SIPS, you will be responsible for driving growth and revenue for our products. You will lead the business development, working closely with our sales, marketing, and product development teams to identify and pursue new business opportunities. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the retail consumer product industry, including the latest technologies and trends, as well as a proven track record of developing and executing successful business development strategies of bringing products through distribution networks. You will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in the industry, including manufacturers, distributors, and end-users.
ABOUT THE WORK ENVIRONMENT:Our headquarters are based out of Austin, Texas, however this role will be remote. This role’s time commitment on average will increase over time, however will fluctuate depending on the partnerships developed. Estimated at 10-15 hours per week starting out, with the eventual commitment being 40+ hours per week as design and production ramp up.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Utilize market research, customer feedback, and industry trends to identify opportunities in the consumer industry and develop plans to capitalize on them.
- Manage and analyze product data (sales, feedback, and trends) to optimize product offerings and drive growth.
- Lead product development initiatives from ideation to launch while ensuring that products meet high standards for quality, design, and alignment with brand values and customer needs.
- Monitor industry trends and competitive landscape to identify threats and opportunities for HID SIPS.
- Participate in industry events and conferences to stay up-to-date on the latest technologies and trends in the industry.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (marketing, sales, and product development) to develop and implement strategies for increasing market share and driving revenue growth.
- Work closely with the sales team to provide training and support on product features, benefits, and selling points, and collaborate on strategies for winning new business and increasing sales. Assisting in hiring and training of sales team.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with retail distributors, manufacturers, distributors, and end-users to support the growth of our B2B and B2C products.
- Lead the business development and provide guidance and support to ensure success.
- Analyze HID SIPS current product line and drive strategy surround product line decisions including, but not limited to, which SKU’s/products/accessories to include. Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the industry, including new product development, partnerships, and acquisitions.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy to drive growth and revenue for HID SIPS products.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or related field, MBA a plus
- Helps direct development of customer-facing web platforms and digital experiences.
- Ability to travel as needed to meet with customers, attend industry events, and pursue new business opportunities.
- Fulfills requests for proposals (RFPs) from potential partners and customers.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of managing high-performing teams
- Experience working in a fast-paced, startup-oriented environment.
- 3-5+ years Director experience in startup environment
- 5+ years supervisory or management experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- 5-10+ years sales or marketing experience within consumer product industry
- Proven track record of working hand-in-hand with product development teams to deliver the most effective product to retail distribution networks.
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills with the ability to develop and implement effective business development strategies.
- Deep understanding of the latest technologies and trends in the industry.
