Greenbacker’s IPP business segment acquires, owns, and operates income-producing clean energy infrastructure projects (e.g., solar energy, wind power, energy storage) in communities across the country. As of 2023, our IPP fleet comprises over 450 projects, representing 3.4 gigawatts of total clean energy production and storage capacity. Job Purpose/Background


Greenbacker is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Financial Planning and Analysis (“FP&A”) to join the Finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the Company’s budgeting and forecasting process, which includes the implementation and use of financial systems to improve the process currently in place. Reporting to the SVP of Finance, this role will be working closely with the finance and accounting teams to produce recurring reporting of actual and budget / forecasted results. The role will also collaborate with all functions of the organization to support line-of-business performance as well as total company reporting. The ideal candidate will partner with the Senior Executive team to develop and execute on the Company’s strategies while also supporting day-to-day processes and reporting.


Requirements


Key Responsibilities:


  • Identify process improvement opportunities, including how to further use financial systems, to streamline and create efficiencies. Partner with IT to optimize existing systems, implement new systems and integrate data between them.
  • Manage a team of at least five FP&A professionals with a range of experience and backgrounds.
  • Support line-of-business leaders as they manage their individual businesses – including the renewable energy projects, managed funds and individual departmental budgets. Develop a detailed understanding of the business processes to identify and mitigate risks and realize opportunities in financial results.
  • Perform other ad hoc analysis and support as needed.
  • Oversee the annual and quarterly budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring that financial goals and objectives are aligned with the strategic priorities of the organization.
  • Support the Investor Relations and Marketing teams to produce investor materials and press releases.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly reporting of actuals relative to the budget / forecast, including partnership with accounting to analyze results.
  • Further develop cash flow forecasting capabilities, including collaboration with the Treasury, Investments and Structured Finance teams.
  • Translating financial results and metrics into clear, concise, actionable narratives that influence strategic planning, business decision-making and action. Includes the use of statistical information / KPIs underlying the financial results.


Education And Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance or Accounting. CPA and / or CFA preferred but not required.
  • Experience using financial systems as well as understanding of how such tools interact with other technologies such as Salesforce. Oracle ERP, Oracle Cloud EPM Suite (EPBCS, PCM, FCCs), or HFM is a plus.
  • Line-of-business / commercial FP&A experience – which includes support of line-of-business / general manager and full responsibility over a P(L) (i.e., forecasting revenues and operating expenses for a division / line-of-business / total company vs a purely Corporate FP&A function).
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high growth environment with an emphasis on continuous improvement and scale.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to build relationships cross-functionally.
  • Renewable energy industry experience is a plus.
