Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
Houston Dynamo FC is seeking candidates to join the Marketing team as Director Digital Marketing. This role will oversee the vision, development and go to market strategy and execution of the Houston Dynamo Football Club (HDFC) digital ecosystem (e.g., HDFC app, website, social handles and email). The role will be responsible for loyalty and audience development planning and execution, serving and delivering best in class content to existing fans and leveraging channels to target and engage new fans to meet and exceed key performance indicators, across organic and paid executions.
The Director Digital Marketing will report to the Vice President of Marketing and work closely with HDFC Marketing leadership to deliver against key marketing initiatives and objectives, partnering with other members of the Marketing Communications team, Partnership, Ticketing and other internal teams to build integrated plans that drive the HDFC brands, its teams, athletes and partners. The role will oversee four (4) to five (5) direct reports.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Coach and mentor direct and in-direct reports; inspire and develop direct reports’ individual development plans with measurable goals; assess, address and recognize performance in an on-going manner.
  • Collaborate with head of creative and content producers, to direct content strategy across App, social, and web, with a focus on visual storytelling that is representative and connected to the HDFC brands’ voices and identity. Work with Communications team to develop editorial cadence to support storytelling within content strategy.
  • Partner with Vice President Marketing to develop integrated media plan, monitor and evolve to deliver strong ROI against key business objectives and Club initiatives. Oversee day-to-day execution, assessment and management of selected media agency.
  • Partner with internal departments (e.g., Sales, Partnership and Ticketing) to inform and build plans to seamlessly integrate contractual deliverables and revenue-driving campaigns as extensions of HDFC brand storytelling; work with Sales and Partnership to identify opportunities to create (and sell) digital content assets to partners and support Ticketing and other departments with seasonal initiatives to drive towards business goals.
  • Review and evolve current processes to manage owned channels and platforms to ensure team is set-up to deliver on-time, on-strategy and on-brand across executions; identify efficiencies and opportunities to “work smarter, not harder” and integrate into daily workflow.
  • Develop and oversee execution of digital strategy and fan experience across channels/platforms in the digital ecosystem.
  • Build relationships with key HDFC, MLS and NWSL stakeholders, including cross-functional colleagues, league contacts, and partners to build integrated and cohesive marketing plans to advance a collective vision for the Club and its’ brands.
  • Lead evaluation, via key metrics, of campaigns and content across platforms to continually evolve content performance and editorial plan against objectives.
  • Establish long-term road map for evolution of digital ecosystem to drive fan growth and engagement.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Track record of success in functioning as a key member of a management team, contributing strategic thinking and leadership skills necessary to operate at the highest levels of an organization.
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding of the ever-changing digital landscape and storytelling within the space to attract and engage fans.
  • Familiarity with consumer promotional programs, retail promotional programs and sport entities is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or other relevant field or equivalent experience required.
  • 10+ years of marketing/communications/digital experience, preferably in sports, entertainment, or advertising
SKILLS, ABILITIES & OTHER ATTRIBUTES:
  • Ability to work in high-paced environment and on short deadlines.
  • Innovative thinker and self-starter with perseverance to lead teams to success.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) required. Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, etc.) knowledge helpful.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, comfort with ambiguity, ability to manage change and balance competing/evolving priorities.
  • Effective communication skills.
