The Opportunity

The Health Plan Sales Director will act as CEO of their book of business and is focused on profitable growth.

In this role, you will have full responsibility for all strategic and functional management of one or more of Teladoc’s National Health Plan clients. With a primary focus on growth, the Director develops executive level relationships with the health plan’s executives and wakes up every day thinking “how do I partner, serve and grow my client base?” What are my relationships? What strategies should I deploy? What products serve both the client and Teladoc Health?

The Health Plan Sales Director will lead the company's Client Management Activities and will ensure successful upselling, implementation, servicing, and utilization support. The Director will also employ consultative and strategic account leadership. They will develop product expansion, new market development and retention strategies, including contract renewal. As the Health Plan Sales Director, you will also be responsible for measuring and relaying impact and value, including ROI, cost avoidance, population health management, and member wellness.

The Health Plan Sales Director is a leader who sets the vision and drives the strategy for the entire team of people who engage with their client. This will include motivating, inspiring, and setting priority so that all members of the teamwork in unison and deliver value to your client and profitable growth to Teladoc.

This role is also responsible for client satisfaction, mobilizes and motivates company internal resources to resolve health plans’ issues, streamline processes, and maximize profit and will partner closely with Marketing leadership to drive utilization within client base.

Responsibilities

Revenue Generation

  • Oversee other client strategies including marketing, technology, and renewals; direct all renewal activities
  • Drive increased utilization across all lines of business
  • Develop and execute strategic plans, achieving revenue and retention goals.
  • Coordinating successful client hand off/management activities.
  • Develop and execute client plans to grow the portfolio via additional lines of business, cross-sell of product lines, upselling, and driving ASO client growth.

Relationship Management

  • Develop relationships with clients to support clients use for reference, speaker, and media requests
  • Oversee all complex internal and external interactions related to the clients, ensuring the best interest of the client and Teladoc.
  • Provide internal management information to assist in the updating of monthly forecasts and billing.
  • Exhibit thought leadership and deep understanding of the plans landscape, including cost containment strategies, engagement, utilization, client requirements, market drivers, and buying cycles
  • Develop deep knowledge and actively seek current information about plans’ organizational structure, products, services, and markets
  • Lead client review calls and face-to-face meetings to review value creation, reporting, additional training needs, project status, outstanding issues, and opportunities to integrate additional Teladoc services.
  • Coordinate strategy and issue resolution with Finance, Operations, Data Transfer, Legal, Product, and IT
  • Manage all client touchpoints and maintain historical retention targets, including annual renewals, key relationship changes, upsells, and fee renegotiation
  • Manage complex customers and demonstrate the ability to leverage key decision makers.

Leadership Coaching & Team Development

  • Provide timely client updates to all company systems, such as Salesforce, Admin, Redmine, and Cognos
  • Dedicated to the success of team and peers, and demonstrate willingness to train/mentor
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to work in cross-functional teams

Candidate Profile

  • 5+ years of experience selling and/or account managing health plans and/or PBM accounts
  • PBM account management and/or sales experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated success in account retention, upselling, cross selling, and new business development
  • Ability to work in an ambiguous environment both independently and part of a larger team
  • Demonstrated success in building impactful relationships with Sr. level leaders including C-Suite
  • Experience developing and executing on strategic plans to grow a book of business
  • Experience managing cross functional relationships both internally and with external partners
  • Recent health plan sales experience, ideally current or within the last 2 years
  • 8+ years combined experience in sales and account management/client management in the health care or PBM space
  • Bachelor’s degree

The base salary range for this position is $115,000.00 - $150,000.00 . In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible for performance bonus, RSU’s, and benefits (subject to eligibility requirements) listed here: Teladoc Health Benefits 2023. Total compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to, type of position, location, education level, work experience, and certifications.
