Digital Investigative Analyst Jobs

Responsible for collecting and analyzing a variety of investigative data from digital forensic tools, internet databases, and crime scenes to assist sworn peace officers conducting investigations in the Police Department Criminal Investigations Division (CID).

Target Hiring Range $47,923/yr - $61,069/yr

• Internet sites and social media platforms,
• Prepare objective and thorough reports supporting ongoing investigations.
• Crime scenes.
• Computer applications and other technology tools, and
• Digital forensic tools,
• Provide technical and administrative support to the Criminal Investigations Division as needed.
• Collect and analyze a variety of investigative data including information from
• Provide technical support and assistance for detectives and other investigative officers.
• Provide testimony and evidence in court proceedings.

 Bachelor’s Degree

 1-year related experience

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Education/ Experience

• Experience as an investigative analyst for a government agency or in a technology or social media company.
• Texas Department of Safety (DPS) National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/ Texas Crime Information Center (TCIC) certification preferred not required.
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Forensics, Digital Media, Political Science, Computer Science, or related field of study.
• Experience and/or certifications in mobile device forensics.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Comprehensive knowledge of social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, Tik Tok, Twitter and YouTube.
• Comprehensive knowledge in organizing and presenting computer data through various methods.
• Basic knowledge of different investigative techniques.
• Comprehensive knowledge of analyzing physical and digital forensics.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office products
• Ability to pass a background investigation and qualify for Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) access

 Valid Class C Texas driver's license

The incumbent works in a typical office environment; relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. The incumbent may walk, bend, reach, lift boxes and other materials up to 50 pounds, and push/pull carts. The incumbent will occasionally respond to various indoor and outdoor environments that could be considered crime scenes.
