Job Summary

Under general supervision, is responsible for performing a wide variety graphic art and promotional materials. Plans, researches, and develops concepts for visual communications such as publications, print, displays, and electronic media. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment. May exercise supervision over assigned staff.

Essential Job Functions

• Determines size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy; selects style and size of type; and arranges layout based upon available space, knowledge of layout principles, and esthetic design concepts; discusses illustration at various stages of completion and makes changes as necessary.
• Schedules, coordinates, and prioritizes the work of subordinates involved in the production of communications projects; provides esthetic and technical direction.
• Attends project-planning meetings with clients, team members, contractors, supervisors, and other professionals. During the design process, consults and discusses with the applicable members about materials, layout, specifications, and product.
• Produces designs into camera-ready artwork for printer or silk.
• Determines project specification (i.e., size, type, paper weight, ink colors, folds, cuts, etc.) including costs and completion dates.
• Prepares series of drawings to illustrate sequence and timing of story developments.
• Prepares illustrations or rough sketches of material according to client or supervisor's instructions.
• Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
• Collaborates with managers to review strategic direction and then conceptualizes and executes graphic design concepts that meet objectives.
• Plans, researches, develops, and executes concepts for a variety of projects requiring graphic arts, such as pamphlets, posters, brochures, and displays; may use conventional methods and photography.
• Maintains inventory of graphics supplies and equipment.
• Determines style, techniques, and medium best suited to produce desired effects and to conform with specific instructions.
• Assembles final layouts for printer.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in working with projects of varied size and complexity in the areas of drafting and graphics.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with branding, marketing, and strategic communications.
• Experience creative graphics within the confines of a style guide.
• Experience coordinating event audio-visual logistics.
• Website and social media management.
• Video recording and editing experience.

One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months.One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
