Job Description
Position Summary:
The Supply Chain Planner is responsible for the development of the short and long-range demand forecast for their assigned categories, including achieving accuracy metrics which enables the company to achieve both the financial service and cost objectives. This role will recognize trends or patterns through business intelligence, statistical modeling techniques, historical sales, future trends, pricing, seasonality, and other qualitative data. The Supply Chain Planner is also responsible for the inventory supply plan which includes interpretation of the forecast and ensuring appropriate levels of inventory are brought in to support demand. This includes the actual creation of purchase orders and collaborating with the supplier to improve overall performance and resolve chronic issues.
Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
  • Other projects or duties as assigned.
  • Understand the dynamics of assigned categories and items, including seasonality, pricing, enthusiastic activity, trends, ad plans, category role, sales objectives, sales drivers and life cycle plans.
  • Proactively monitor forecast error/accuracy including root cause analysis that leads to continuous improvement in accuracy metrics.
  • Utilize full capabilities of the demand planning software.
  • Analyze and maintain optimal safety stock levels to ensure no breaks in supply to restaurants or large overstocks in the distribution centers.
  • Contribute to the sales and operating planning/execution process with Suppliers, Customers, Distribution Center Operations, and other Supply Chain groups to collaborate on forecasts, promotions, new item launches, and other activities.
  • Gathers, reviews, and disseminates new product information and product changes to internal departments to ensure accurate product information. Manages item transitions and plans for proper levels of inventory to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Proactively participate in identifying opportunities for process improvement & developing solutions
  • Ensure seamless integration of new/changed items into regular purchase planning with timely and accurate forecasting.
  • Perform analysis on Key Performance Indicators (forecast accuracy, forecast error, lead time adherence, order modification rate) and implement solutions.
  • Ensure accurate system maintenance for all ordering parameters.
  • Develop an inventory supply plan which includes interpretation of a forecast/promotion and ensuring the appropriate levels of inventory are brought in to support demand while not exceeding distribution capacity or inventory targets. This includes the actual creation of the purchase order and review of inventory vs. restaurant demand to assure the right level of supply at the right time.
  • Develop demand forecasts at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons as part of a demand planning function.
  • Collaborate within the Supply Planning organization to develop inventory strategies on existing items, new products and promotions, and product phase-outs. Collaborate with Supply Planning, Promotions Planning and other areas of operations to mitigate the inventory impact of sudden changes in demand.
  • Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast results.
  • Manage and collaborate with the Supplier and supply chain partners to improve overall performance and resolve chronic issues such as lead time, fill rate, data quality, etc. to ensure a best-in class supply chain.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Critical thinking skills required to analyze data with ability to define root cause, and corrective action.
  • This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of management, peers, and partners, as necessary.
  • Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.
  • Excellent task prioritization, follow-up, and customer service skills required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Statistics, Business, or related field
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite of tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship building through cross functional alignment.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in Demand Planning, Forecasting, Analytics or Supply Chain related field

Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts.
  • APICS or other forecasting certification
  • Experience working in a retail or restaurant supply chain.
  • Proficiency in forecasting and planning systems (JDA or similar)
