Defense Policy Analyst

The Opportunity:

As a policy professional, you understand the nuances of developing complex and detailed guidance that directly impacts organizations and workstreams. We’re looking for an expert like you to create solutions in an ever-changing technology landscape that align with our missions that keep us ahead of the curve and our nation safe.

As a Defense Policy Analyst on our team, you’ll bring your strategy and policy expertise to support a variety of technology portfolios for DoD clients. You’ll draft and provide feedback on policy and guidance for DoD clients and serve as a key liaison for collaborative efforts across a wide stakeholder network. You’ll be a trusted advisor to our clients, and we’ll look to you to identify, analyze, and evaluate complex policies, processes, and industry regulations as part of joint missions.

How You'll Contribute:

  • Provide guidance and support to other functional teams on policy-related questions and projects.
  • Provide planning, execution, and follow-on support to DoD policy workshops and monthly working group meetings.
  • Track status of ongoing policy related projects to communicate across teams on a recurring basis.
  • Provide analytical support for the drafting of DoD policy and guidance, create reports on areas of interest to our clients, and develop recommendations for implementing changes to existing policies.
  • Conduct in-depth reviews of existing industry and government standards to assess their impacts and effectiveness to develop new technical content as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with other agencies and industry businesses to understand the full scope and impact of the policies we’re developing and to collect feedback on our proposed developments.

You’ll guide the work we do for technology policy and play a key role in developing the solutions we deliver for strategic planning and implementation. Further your career with us as you help solve complex design, integration, and analytical problems for defense technology initiatives.

You Have:

  • Experience coordinating across stakeholders and subject matter experts to collect inputs and reach consensus
  • Ability to manage multiple lines of effort simultaneously and track deliverables accordingly
  • Secret clearance
  • Experience working at a government headquarters organization
  • Ability to research issues and develop briefing material for senior client leadership to convey priorities and support decision-making
  • Bachelor's degree in a Public Policy or Legal Studies
  • 3+ years of experience researching, reviewing, and analyzing legislative, regulatory, DoD, and executive-branch policy documents, including Executive Orders, Code of Federal Regulations, Federal Register, or DoD issuances

Nice If You Have:

  • Knowledge of the DoD Directives process, including DoD Instructions and Manuals
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain Risk Management, Manufacturing, Operational Security, or Quality Assurance
  • Master's degree in Public Policy, International Affairs, Journalism, Communications, or similar field
  • Experience analyzing technology policy for the DoD or in the semiconductor industry
  • Experience directly supporting senior government leaders and executing taskings and projects based on their directive

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $81,800.00 to $186,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
