JOB DESCRIPTION: Data Specialist (Intermediate Level)
REPORTS TO: Anthem Strong Families Project Manager
WORK LOCATION: Dallas, TX
NATURE OF WORK: The Data Specialist will be responsible to help lead projects and preserve the integrity of all data collected. The data specialist will also be required to work some nights and weekends.
Under supervision of the Project Manager, the Data Specialist works closely with project sites and community partners at project sites to complete data collection and management activities for either an impact or descriptive study. Staff at project sites adhere to protocols on a strict timeline to achieve the following goals under the supervision of the Data Specialist:
I.Random control trial (RCT) or descriptive study design. Activities include recruitment of participants into services and the study, random assignment into study groups after informed consent for impact studies, and repeated administration of online surveys to measure participant outcomes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Collaboration
·Assist, guide, and train service staff—case managers, facilitators, and others—to carry out data collection and management activities for the impact study or descriptive study.
·Participate with senior staff for the project site and Independent Evaluator, MER.
·Work with senior staff for the project site to resolve any performance issues for delivering programming or services.
·Attend all relevant project meetings held by the project site.
·Receive technical training and support from both project site and Independent Evaluator, MER.
·Maintain integrity of all project data in a secure manner.
Procedures Enforcement
·Ensure human subjects are protected in the study by adhering to IRB approved procedures to solicit informed consent, protect anonymity and confidentiality, and other related activities.
·Maintain a secure and organized archive of participant data files with appropriate documentation.
·Work with project staff to formulate, implement, and enforce proper data collection policies and procedures to meet goals for the impact or descriptive study.
·Create data collection procedural documents for project staff.
Data Collection
·Learn to use the nFORM, or similar, online platform to enroll participants, document informed consent, randomly assign participants to study groups when required, schedule workshops, and track participation.
·Administer nFORM and Qualtrics surveys through a flexible work schedule as determined by rollout of HMRF programming and services by grantee.
·Learn to use the Qualtrics online platform to administer surveys that measure participant outcomes.
·Train and support staff to use the nFORM and Qualtrics online platforms through trainings and hosting meetings.
·Travel to participant sites to administer data collection tools
Data Management
·Train and coach project staff to carry out data entry and cleaning procedures for the nFORM and Qualtrics online platforms.
·Hold regular meetings with project staff to monitor and improve progress to collect evaluation data.
·Prepare and submit progress reports for data entry and cleaning at regular intervals.
·Develop ad-hoc data collection reports as requested.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
·Bachelor’s degree preferred or
·Experience in social services or conducting survey research.
·Proficiency with MS Word and MS Excel.
·Preferably bilingual in Spanish
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
·Frequently sit, talk, hear/listen, and travel to project sites.
·Frequently use tools or controls, such as a computer keyboard.
·Occasionally required to stand and reach with hands and arms.
·Have visual abilities that include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
·Occasionally lift to no more than 25 lbs. such as a stack of files or paper.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work at project sites and remotely, as well as travel out of state for meetings and trainings.
