Job Description
Discovery Education is looking for an Intern to join our Standards Management and Curriculum Alignment team. This is an onsite role at our Corporate Headquarters in Charlotte, NC and you will work on a hybrid schedule.
Your work will not only help us continuously improve the user experience for teachers and students alike, but it will also help connect DE assets to national and state standards.
Our B.O.L.D. (Building Opportunities for Leadership & Development) paid internship program lasts eight weeks from June 20, 2023 – August 11, 2023. You will be required to work a 40-hour work week.
Throughout the 8-week internship program, you will complete important and meaningful work and project assignments with a focus on providing you opportunities for growth, visibility, and exposure within the organization. You will be paired with a Mentor that will be your guide for the projects and work assignments.
What You Will Do
  • Manually translate information into usable data using an extraction tool and your analytic skills. This project will impact the information needed for Atlas to improve standards alignment connections in the DE platform.
  • Work with others in departments including our content, strategy and operations team and gain exposure across Discovery Education.
  • Build and deploy a data extraction tool.
  • Build custom excel spreadsheets and accompanying analytics.
  • Organize, manage and complete data extraction from Curriculum Alignment word document into our DE database.
Requirements
  • Exceptional excel skills.
  • Academic or professional experience with data extraction, data analytics and/or data transformation with a strong preference for those who are pursuing degrees in a data focused program.
  • Strong writing, proofreading and editing skills and a creative mindset.
  • Legal right to work in the United States.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Data driven nature.
  • Detailed oriented nature with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
