About This Role


Wells Fargo's Corporate Model Risk (CMoR) organization is seeking a highly qualified person to join its Advanced Technologies for Modeling (AToM) Group as a Quantitative Analytics Specialist (QAS). The responsibilities of the AToM Group include development of cutting-edge models, algorithms, visualization tools, and computing environment to advance the Bank's practices in the areas of credit, operational, and market risk management.


In This Role, You Will


This individual will be involved in the development of state-of-the-art methods in statistical modeling, machine learning (ML), and optimization as well as implementing them in fast and efficient algorithms. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:


  • Identifying state-of-the-art techniques in modeling (statistics and ML) as well as optimization for application in risk management;
  • Collaborating with internal and external quantitative communities to keep abreast of latest developments and practices in quantitative risk.
  • Developing model library to support model risk assessment; and
  • Conducting applied research to drive the development of methodology and algorithms;
  • Implementing the techniques in fast and scalable algorithms in our advanced computing platform;
  • Disseminating best practice across the quantitative modeling community within the bank;
Required Qualifications, US:


  • Master's degree or higher in statistics, mathematics, physics, engineering, computer science, economics, or quantitative discipline.
  • 2+ years of Quantitative Analytics experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
Desired Qualifications:


  • Ability to work in cross-organizational projects and collaboratively with other groups.
  • Proficiency in software development;
  • Experience with ML/AI computing platforms and tools such as TensorFlow and Keras;
  • Ability to work with large datasets and some experience in database management and tools such as Hadoop, Spark and SQL;
  • Excellent writing and communication skills for documentation and presentations to audiences of all technical backgrounds;
  • Strong computing and programming background and knowledge of one or more languages such as Python and Java;
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently in a structured environment;
  • Strong conceptual and quantitative problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to contribute independently; and
  • In-depth knowledge of ML methodologies such as ensemble algorithms, neural networks, supervised and unsupervised learning;
  • A PhD in statistics, computer science, optimization, electrical engineering or a related quantitative discipline;
  • Experience with GPU programming, multi-core, or distributed programming;
Pay Range


$96,600.00 - $171,800.00 Annual
