Data Analyst: Value-Based Investing, Associate

Location: Anywhere in the US

We are looking for a data analyst to drive our research and development efforts to enable OpenInvest to deliver highly personalized financial solutions on a large scale. As a leading provider of values-based data-driven financial products, you will join our team to advance our investment methodology creation and testing by building internal tools and models. This will involve leveraging various techniques such as data analysis, visualization, and tool development.

What You’ll Do:

• Participate in code reviews, architecture reviews, integral data engineering, and project planning
• Lead and contribute to projects within the OpenInvest Investment Research Development team, collaborating closely with other team members
• Collaborate cross-functionally with OpenInvest’s engineering, product, and research teams to identify areas where data analysis can be conducted effectively
• Develop new tools and improve existing tools used to create and test OpenInvest’s investment methodologies
• Manage release, rollout, and deployment of data-related products
• Conduct data analysis to inform business decisions and/or product design. Be able to initiate data analysis ideas

Who You Are:

• Strong Excel skills
• 3+ years of experience in finance, data, and/or software engineering capacity
• Able to seamlessly switch between research, development, and product management
• Strong experience in SQL for querying databases
• Demonstrate initiative and autonomy, with a proven ability to contribute effectively in group conversations
• Not afraid to provide constructive feedback to colleagues at all levels
• Proficient in Python
• Possess an analytical, statistical, and broadly quantitative mindset
• 3+ years of experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Statistics, Quantitative Finance, and Software Engineering

Nice to Haves:

• Experience with data science
• Ability to articulate quantitative analysis
