Overview
The Customer Quality Engineer has responsibilities of problem-solving activities for internal and external quality issues. Position will assist in new product launch, assist in supplier development, and help maintain IATF 16949 requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in problem solving with supplier for product identified as nonconforming and support supplier development activities
- Develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation, including testing frequencies for CMM
- Lead QRCM teams in non-reversible corrective actions including help to design and prevent defects from occurring
- Must be willing to travel 15-20% to visit customers regarding reported quality escapes/issues
- Act as back-up for CMM Operator as needed
- Supervisory and/or guide role over quality technicians and auditors
- Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing of product
- Visit customer sites as required for resolution of quality and/or related issues including assist in new product launches, quality problems, and/or implementation of new product changes
- Involvement in continuous improvement activities
- Work on Advanced Product Quality Planning including Process FMEA, Process Control Plan, and inspection instructions and preparing PPAP submission documents to customer
- Compiles and writes training material, work instructions, and conducts training sessions for quality control and assurance activities
- Will assist in training of new Quality Technicians or Auditors deployed to specific areas
- Communicate with customers, suppliers, and internal personnel via e-mail, face-to-face communication, and/or phone communication
- Implement and monitor statistical process control activity as required by the customer and internal requirements
- Work in fast paced manufacturing environment, handle multiple project at the same time
Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS
- GD&T experience required
- Minimum of 3 – 5 years of quality engineering experience in automotive manufacturing environment required
- CMM Machine operating experience will be a plus
- Ability to effectively present information
- Experienced in requirements and implementation of IATF16949 required
- Bachelor’s degree required
