Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Custodian/Day Porter to join our team. The Custodian/Day Porter will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness, orderliness and customer satisfaction within our facility while ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our associates and visitors. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, along with a strong attention to detail. This position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, efficiently managing time and resources to complete tasks effectively. In addition to performing general cleaning duties, the position requires regular interactions with occupants, providing assistance, answering inquiries, and delivering exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills, a friendly demeanor, and a strong commitment to exceeding customer expectations. The hours for this position will be Monday-Friday: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM (EST).
Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional customer service to occupants, responding to inquiries, providing directions, and addressing concerns promptly and courteously.
  • Perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, spot cleaning car pets and dusting (includes high dusting of ceiling vents) and fitness equipment cleaning.
  • Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces to maintain a streak-free appearance.
  • Track completed tasks and time spent using our work order management system.
  • Empty and clean trash receptacles and ensure proper disposal of waste materials.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, notifying the supervisor of any shortages, or required reordering.
  • Respond promptly to special cleaning requests and emergency situations.
  • Proactively identify and resolve potential customer service issues, ensuring occupant satisfaction.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the facility.
  • Follow established procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to ensure safety and prevent damage.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms and refresh areas, replenishing supplies as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or malfunctions to their supervisor/manager.
Qualifications:
  • Comfortable completing tasks on a computer/mobile device and using work order management systems or similar software.
  • Familiarity with handling and storing cleaning chemicals safely.
  • Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work is preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally and courteously with occupants.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to speak, read, write, and follow instructions when working with internal and external customers.
  • A positive attitude and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs. and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers, and carpet cleaners.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, materials, and equipment is preferred.
