Position Summary

The Washington University School of Medicine Operations & Facilities Management Department provides a range of services for the medical campus in a customer-focused, efficient, and sustainable manner. Operations & Facilities Management maintains 61 university buildings and provides operational, planning, and construction services to over 8.3 million gross square feet of space. We will open three new facilities between 2023 and 2025 with over 1.5M BGSF. In addition, the School of Medicine continues expanding its reach on and off campus in teaching, clinical care, and research. Our team plays a vital and important role in delivering care, research, and services.
Position provides custodial services for a department by performing a variety of cleaning tasks to maintain a safe and healthy work area for staff and visitors. This is a first shift position and will typically work 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Cleans, disinfects bathrooms, sanitizes telephones, washes desks and cleans lunch/service area.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Changes lights utilizing appropriate ladders.
  • Operates mechanical floor cleaners, vacuums and utilizes mop buckets, wringers, etc.
  • Washes interior and exterior windows.
  • Mops, buffs and maintains all floors and dusts/vacuums work areas and offices.
  • Collects and dispose of trash and waste products by taking to appropriate compactor.

Working Conditions

  • Exposure to chemicals.
  • Typically standing or walking.
  • Typically bending, crouching, stooping.
  • Frequent lifting 25 lbs or more.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Must be able to work independent with minimal supervision.
  • Some housekeeping experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand labels and operating instructions on equipment and chemical containers.
  • Working knowledge of general housekeeping equipment.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.

G03-H

Salary Range

$15.25 - $19.57 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
