Binghamton, one of four university centers within the State University of New York, was named the premier public university in the northeast by The Fiske Guide to Colleges "because of its outstanding academic programs. . . and its commitment to undergraduates." Binghamton University enrolls about 16,000 students in programs leading to bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees. The University consists of Harpur College of Arts and Sciences, the Graduate School of Education, the College of Community and Public Affairs, the School of Management, the Decker School of Nursing, he School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Thomas J. Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science. The Graduate School administers advanced-degree programs in these schools, but both our undergraduate and graduate students are taught by the same outstanding faculty. Twenty-six specialized research centers, along with three institutes for advanced studies and a GIS CORE facility, attract scholars from around the globe to Binghamton's modern campus.

Grade: SG-5
Salary: $32,343 for full time and $16,172 for part time
Part-time and full time entry-level custodial positions on various shifts. A Cleaner performs a variety of routine manual tasks requiring medium to heavy physical effort in cleaning and caring for an assigned area in buildings and adjacent grounds and sidewalks.
Employees may work many weekends and holidays and are subject to mandatory and voluntary overtime.
Shifts Available

• Full time, 4am-1230pm, Monday-Friday
• Part-time, day shift, Monday - Friday 10 am - 2:30 pm (+/- 30 min depending on building assignment)
• Part-time, weekends, 1st shift: Saturday, Sunday & Monday (including Monday holidays with the exception of Christmas and New Year's Day should they fall on a Monday)
• Full time, 11 pm-7 am (Weekend shifts may be necessary as well as Monday holidays with the exception of Christmas and New Year's Day should they fall on a Monday; pass days vary)

Upon hire, a 52-week probationary period must be served.
Requirements

• Ability to understand and follow verbal and simple written instructions in English
• Successful applicants must be good communicators, have a positive attitude, and be able to work productively as a team member
• Ability to read, write and understand English
• Ability to climb ladders and scaffolds and shovel snow
• Ability to stand, stoop, bend and stretch for long periods of time
• Ability to use various cleaning equipment and products
• Working knowledge of the properties of various cleaning substances.
• Ability to perform medium to heavy manual labor
