Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: Performs classroom support and student personal care services as directed under the supervision of the Executive Director.
Qualifications Include But Not Limited To
  • Meets all mandated health requirements.
  • Congenial disposition and strong diplomacy skills.
  • Complies with drug-free workplace rules and board policies.
  • High School diploma.
  • Has or is willing to obtain a valid Ohio Department of Education permit appropriate for the assignment.
  • Has or is willing and able to obtain an Ohio Cosmetology Instructor's License.
  • A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are representative of performance expectations. A reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a qualified individual with a disability to perform essential functions.
  • Performs clerical work related to classroom activities. Prepares and distributes teaching materials. Maintains records as directed.
  • Reports suspected child abuse and/or neglect to civil authorities as required by law.
  • Performs other specific job-related duties as directed.
  • Supervises non-classroom activities as directed (e.g., arrival/departure, lunch, recess, field trips, library, computer lab, etc.).
  • Actively participates in programmed recreational activities as directed.
  • Upholds board policies and follows administrative procedures.
  • Strives to develop rapport and serve as a positive role model for others.
  • Checks with the teacher for instructions. Works with small groups and/or individual students. Seeks advice when expectations are unclear.
  • Helps students with enrichment and/or remedial activities. Reinforces instructional materials introduced by the teacher. Maintains a positive learning environment.
  • Promotes a favorable image of the school district. Supports community partnerships that enhance district programs and services.
  • Takes precautions to ensure staff/student safety. Does not leave students unsupervised.
  • Respects personal privacy. Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information.
  • Watches for student behavior that may indicate a problem. Intervenes and/or reports concerns to an administrator.
SALARY: $16.66 - $21.43 hourly rate based on experience. Additional annual stipend up to $1000 for Cosmetology licenses.
