About the Company:

Our client is a prominent real estate firm in New York City with a portfolio of residential and commercial properties nationwide. Due to their continued growth they are looking to bring on a Corporate Controller in this NEWLY CREATED role.

Responsibilities:

• Support special projects and initiatives as assigned by executive management.
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records, ledgers, and reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to maintain internal controls and safeguard company assets.
• Lead and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional growth and development.
• Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliation of accounts, journal entries, and accruals.
• Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making processes.
• Oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to streamline accounting operations.
• Stay up to date with changes in accounting standards and regulations, and ensure the organization's compliance.
• Coordinate and oversee the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
• Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to executive management and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful completion of audits and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems. Knowledge of real estate accounting software is a plus.
• Strong leadership and people management abilities, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations, including GAAP.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
• Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
