The controller will oversee the accounting operations of a company. This is a senior position and requires several years of proven experience at various levels of accounting. The controller's job duties span broadly, and can involve financial and accounting compliance, budgeting, reporting, forecasting and risk management.
The controller will manage accounting records and is responsible for the production of financial reports that fairly and accurately reflect the company's current financial position. The controller will oversee and monitor accounting practices across the company’s Business Units and ensures adherence to GAAP standards and internal financial policies.
The controller must stay apprised of all the local, state and federal tax laws and business regulations that affect the company, and ensure compliance. The controller also will coordinate with our outside audit firm to ensure they have the necessary information to render an accurate judgment of the company's financial statements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the budget process
- Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
- Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements
- Strong communication, analytical and management skills. Candidate should possess knowledge of all aspects of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Plan, direct and coordinate all accounting operational functions
- Develop, implement and enforce accounting policies and internal controls
- Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions.
- Provide management with information vital to the decision-making process
- Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems and ensure compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements as well as internal financial policies
- Monitor and confirm financial condition by conducting audits and providing information to external auditors
- Hire, train and retain skilled accounting staff
- Assess current accounting operations, and offer recommendations for the improvement and implementation of new processes
- Oversee regulatory reporting, including tax and compliance
- Coordinate activities of external auditors

Qualifications:
- Previous experience in public accounting is strongly preferred.
- Professional accreditation such as certified public accountant (CPA), certified management accountant (CMA) or chartered global management accountant (CGMA) is strongly preferred;
- 5-10 years of relevant experience, preferably as a financial controller;
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required;
- Industry experience is preferred but not a requirement
Salary Range
- Desired salary range $140,000- $250,000
