Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:-


Our Client is looking for a Controller with at least 10 years of Finance/Accounting experience. The Controller reports to the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for all aspects of the company’s financial operations and reporting, including, but not limited to, general ledger accounting, standard cost accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, cash management and reconciliation, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures.

Directly supervises finance and accounting staff. Assist in the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Accounting/Finance Department. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employee(s); planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employee(s); addressing complaints and resolving problems.

What you will be doing:

  • Reports to management on monthly variances from the established budget, and the reasons for those variances at a Company level, line of business level, and department level
  • Assist CFO in the management of insurances, including, but not limited to health, property and casualty, directors and officers, and workers compensation insurance.
  • Supports the preparation of the company's annual budget, based upon the goals and business plans of the CEO, CFO and the BOD
  • Prepares monthly, weekly, quarterly and annual financial and operational reports as needed; including, but not limited to, balance sheet, statement of income, statement of cash flows, weekly and monthly project cost detail, credit agreement reports, labor efficiency reporting, key performance indicators, etc.
  • Engages and assists in ongoing cost reduction analyses.
  • Manages the capital budgeting process, based on constraint analysis and discounted cash flow analysis.
  • Forecasts cash flow positions, related borrowing needs, and available company funds.
  • Engages and assists in benchmarking studies to establish areas of potential operational improvement.
  • Assists in the interpretation of the company's financial results to management and recommends improvement activities.
  • Provides financial analysis tools to evaluate company ventures or special projects, programs, capital expenditures, product costing, etc. when necessary.
  • Assist in the development of internal control policies and related procedures.
  • Interfaces with outside tax/audit firms, banks and lessors, casualty/liability insurance agents(s), credit card companies and collection agencies.

Experience you will need:

  • Proficiency with integrated enterprise accounting systems is required (i.e. SAP, Oracle, Infor, NetSuite ERP, Syspro, or similar). Prior experience with Syspro is highly valued.
  • At least five years of experience as Controller or Assistant Controller with a company with >$50M in revenues. Significant public accounting experience may be considered for the right applicant.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent Excel skills are a must.
  • Travel is expected to be less than 10%, but may require periodic trips to Matamoros, Mexico.
  • Must be able to calculate figures and amounts for all bookkeeping, payroll, budgets and calculate/understand statistical analysis, financial ratios and probability statements.
  • Deep and current understanding of U.S. GAAP and IRS reporting principles and regulations.
  • Experience in a standard cost manufacturing environment with ERP/MRP experience is highly desired.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from four-year college or university is an absolute requirement; Master of Accountancy (MaCC) or Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) degree is highly preferred.
  • At least 10 years of Accounting/Finance experience.
  • Experience with Mexican maquiladora operations is strongly valued.
  • Controller must use the utmost discretion in all presentations/correspondence and communication for staff, third parties such as bankers, CEO/President, and BOD.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries and complaints.
  • Five or more years related experience in a job costing manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience directly supervising and coaching staff.
  • CPA license or CMA certificate, or significant progress toward certification required.
