About The Role

RED Group is growing and is searching for a Controller to join our Finance & Accounting Team. This is a flexible role that can be based out of any of our Louisiana or Texas locations. We offer the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule; but remote work would also be considered for this role.

The Controller is responsible for leading and managing the Finance & Accounting Team. The Controller is responsible for coordinating, administering, and controlling financial operations, while ensuring the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of financial data. Reviews, analyzes, and interprets financial and budgetary reports while ensuring compliance with financial regulations. Directs all aspects of accounting operations and the preparation of financial budgets and forecasts while overseeing the operation and development of accounting systems required to maintain reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting and Analysis

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Provide timely and accurate financial reporting to company leadership
• Identify trends and provide suggestions to leadership for maintaining or improving financial performance
• Analyze financial performance against budgets and forecasts

Budgeting and Forecasting

• Lead the annual budgeting process, including the development of revenue, expense, and cash flow projections
• Monitor and analyze budget variances and provide explanations for variances
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial forecasts

Banking & Cash Management

• Implement strategies to optimize cash management
• Manage banking relationships and monitor cash balances
• Oversee cash flow planning

Internal Controls and Compliance

• Establish, implement, and maintain a system of internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial data and safeguard company assets
• Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), federal, state, and local tax regulations, and other applicable financial regulations

Risk Management

• Provide guidance to management on risk-related matters
• Assess and manage financial risks

Financial Systems and Processes

• Train and support staff in the use of financial systems and processes
• Continuously review and improve financial processes and procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness
• Maintain ERP System & work with team members or vendors as needed to upgrade or add functionality

Provide Oversight and Management of all areas of accounting and finance, including

• Customer Invoicing & Accounts Receivables
• Purchasing & Accounts Payable
• Project Accounting
• Inventory
• Payroll

Team Management and Collaboration

• Manage and develop the accounting & finance team, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback
• Collaborate with other departments to support company-wide goals and initiatives
• Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes as a member of the RED Group leadership team

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
• Integrity and ethical standards: adhere to high ethical standards to gain and maintain the trust of leadership and stakeholders.
• Initiative and proactivity: take the initiative to identify areas for improvement, implement changes, and drive process efficiencies within the department.
• Strong communication skills: Effectively communicate financial information and insights to both finance and non-finance professionals within RED Group.
• Analytical thinker: A strong ability to analyze complex financial information, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
• Time management and organization: the ability to prioritize, manage time effectively, and stay organized is essential.
• Leadership and management skills: As the head of the accounting team, should be able to manage and motivate the team, delegate tasks, and provide guidance and support.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or NAV preferred but not required
• Experienced and proficient with GAAP standard
• Problem-solving ability: be adept at identifying issues, finding solutions, and making decisions that support the financial health of the company.
• Attention to detail: Meticulous and thorough, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of financial data.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years' experience as a controller or similar financial management position
