Job Description
CONTROLLERPosition Summary

The Controller is responsible for managing the activities of the overall general accounting function and Office Management. This position will oversee, implement and maintain accounting systems, procedures and policies and ensure the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of accounting data. The Controller will act as liaison between the company, government, customers, suppliers and CPA in providing the required information and ensuring that proper information is maintained.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinate operations, with customer service and finance departments e.g. manufacturing, sales/marketing, parts, purchasing, engineering, etc., to address and resolve inquiries and problems.
  • Preparation and analyzing financial reports and journal entries, maintaining and reconciling ledger accounts
  • Manage purchasing department, approval of PO’s, scheduling department, order processing.
  • Manage banking relationships including LOC’s, saving and investments.
  • Implementing and/or maintaining generally accepted accounting systems
  • Maintain the chart of accounts; prepares all month-end and year-end accounting procedures including preparation and entry of journal entries for AP, AR and General Ledger
  • Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the accounting and operations departments
  • Administer all company insurance, general, workers comp, auto
  • Develops short- and long-range goals and objectives for the departments that effectively support the overall goals and objectives of the company.
  • Lead the implementation of new accounting system, accounting controls, accounting policies and procedures.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filing.
  • Involved with evaluation and implementation of computerized systems in accounting and other areas of the business.
  • Manage all aspects of Human Resources including employee files, payroll processing, health insurance and 401(k) administration.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • Expert computer aptitude, including expertise with Microsoft 365 as well as ERP/Accounting systems
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and deadlines
  • Strong organization, oral and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership and proven supervisory skills
  • 7 – 10 years progressive accounting experience in public accounting or similar work environment
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business related field preferred
