The City of Auburn Community Development department is looking for a talented Community Services Manager to add to our team! This position performs professional work involving oversight and coordination of the City’s Community Service programs including, but not limited to, the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, the City’s housing home repair program, neighborhood programs, citywide human services strategies and programs, and participation and coordination of regional human service strategies and planning efforts. This position supports the work of the City’s Human Services Committee who provides guidance in the prioritization of funding investments and the development and delivery of programs that are designed to support agency-provided human services programs that serve residents of the City.

Primary Duties

In this role you will:

  • Oversees the City’s CDBG Program; fiscal management of the federal requirements associated with the funding allocation, reporting financial and program details to Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and coordinating with other City departments in the deployment of CDBG funding.
  • Prepare, applies for, and administers grants related to community development; manages budget expenditures and progress reports as required under the terms of grants and state/federal entitlement distributions.
  • Maintains current knowledge of human services planning including, but not limited to, trends in funding, service delivery, grant and contract administration, federal and state funding sources, and related regulations.
  • Works courteously and effectively with public officials, residents, contractors, vendors, developers, supervisors, and other employees and organizations, both in person and over the telephone; assisting them with a wide variety of information pertaining to the City and department.
  • Manage the work of the Community Services team; develops a keen understanding of each team member’s job, role, budget, and tasks.
  • Works with nonprofit organizations, for-profit businesses, government agencies, and interested residents to develop needed solutions for missing gaps of service for residents of Auburn; instigates organization for full delivery of services that are efficient and coordinated.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, public administration, sociology, social science, business, or related field.
AND
  • Five (5) years of related experience in human services programs or a related professional work environment.
OR
  • A combination of education, training, and experience that indicates successful performance of the essential responsibilities of the position listed above.

LICENSE REQUIRED
Possesses and retains a valid state driver's license without impending risk of loss at time of appointment.
