Job Description
The Collection Clerk will aggressively pursue outstanding payments to prevent accounts from going to a third-party collection agency.


Primary Responsibilities


  • Search websites for patient insurance
  • File bankruptcy claims, estate claims and liens
  • Generate and work collection reports
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Collect outstanding payments due by telephone and letters
  • Establish payment arrangements
  • Provide coverage at Reception as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES


High school diploma or GED required


Accurate typing skills with at least 35 wpm


Knowledge of medical insurance billing


Ability to read explanations of benefits


Solid computer skills with the ability to use Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook, along with the ability to learn new programs


Ability to manage difficult customers and situations in a professional and courteous manner


Working Conditions And Physical Requirements


General working hours are 7:30am to 4:30pm, Monday-Friday. Overtime is limited and requires supervisor approval. This is a full-time HYBRID position, offering the option to work from home up to 4 days a week, with 1 day in the office each week.


Working in an office environment, the position requires sedentary work with prolonged periods sitting, with occasional standing and walking. Requires occasional lifting, moving or carrying up to 10 pounds.
