Cloud Computing Specialist Jobs

Job Summary:

Our client delivers the country’s premier point of sale and order management system desired for retailers and distributors. They are looking for a Cloud Computing Specialist to join their team and steward their cloud hosting platform and cloud initiatives. This key role is responsible to deliver & maintain a consistently healthy cloud environment for their clients, with the opportunity to enhance the design of their Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate has prior experience working with an AWS and a Cloud Infrastructure supporting business critical operations fostering an environment of partnership and positivity, has a bias toward action, and commitment to clients.

What you will do

• Bring a service-oriented approach, thinking about how this role brings a positive impact to internal and external customers
• Document workflows, processes, and procedures required to perform the duties listed
• Setup and monitor the SQL Servers in their AWS Cloud.
• Create and manage virtual machines in their AWS Cloud including deprecation and cleanup activities for instances no longer needed,
• Recommend and implement changes to their AWS Cloud to improve performance, increase reliability, and decrease customer issues and problems with our products and solutions
• Provide Cloud spend analysis and forecasts, while simultaneously driving optimization recommendations throughout the organization
• Contribute to a Cloud excellence culture throughout the company with the simplification, automation, analysis, and evolution of our activities and processes.
• Work closely with Development and Operations teams to ensure they maintain Cloud cost spend and environment stability through data analysis, consulting, accurate documentation, and creative problem-solving
• Participate in incident management and communications, including follow-up with problem resolution post-mortem, and process improvements
• Monitor the health of their Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud infrastructure and instances by reviewing health and performance logs, alarms, and notifications
• Develop cloud services strategies and provide recommendations on how to ensure consistency in current performance and continuous improvement in cloud hosting services, technologies, frameworks, and practices that support our growing needs
• Work with development and engineering teams on automation, Cloud infrastructure development, and strategic initiatives

Qualifications

• Creative thinker and problem solver
• 1-3 years’ experience working directly with cloud infrastructure responsibilities
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science / IT / STEM or related field required
• Possess the ability to balance big-picture vision with an approach that is always process-oriented with detailed execution
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to handle multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, and navigate ambiguity
• Experience bridging successful partnerships with technical teams and client-facing teams
