Web Design Specialist Jobs

The University of Florida Lastinger Center for Learning’s mission is to improve the quality of teaching, learning, and childcare. We research, develop, and scale equitable educational innovations for adults and children that put all learners on trajectories for lifelong success. Specifically, the Center targets kindergarten readiness, 3rd grade reading proficiency, and algebra proficiency as critical milestones in children's educational trajectory that are predictive of success in school and life. Responsibilities will include:

Maintain Lastinger Center Web Sites

• Maintains up to date knowledge of and implements best practices in UI/UX
• Ensures high quality web presence and performance
• Adheres to industry standards and best practices in website development
• Maintains content across all Lastinger Center web properties
• Designs graphic features for print or online
• Designs, builds web pages for all Lastinger Center web sites (internal and external)
• Develops and proposes design concepts for implementation

Manage & Develop Technical Capacity of Center Websites

• Develops content for SEO and site performance
• Identifies and addresses of user requirements based on best practices in UI/UX
• Collaborates and coordinates with with the Center’s Experience Design Team to maintain high quality web presence across all programs and projects
• Develops and maintains understanding of the Center's audiences
• Evaluates design elements to ensure proper structure and compatibility with browsers and devices.
• Proposes and plans website architecture development

Contributes to Digital Design Projects

• Supports departmental digital layout and design projects (including digital design for mass email)

To achieve this, the Lastinger Center offers a flexible, hybrid work schedule that aligns with the university’s Flexibility in the Workplace Policy. Allowing employees to stagger arrival and departure times as necessary and to vary the number of workdays in the office so long as an employee’s FTE commitment is fulfilled within the university workweek. This policy also allows for occasional, incidental remote work based on individual circumstances.

$55,000 - $60,000

Bachelor's degree; or an associate's degree and two years of appropriate experience.

• Knowledge and experience with web design for SEO
• Experience with WordPress CMS
• Demonstrated ability to remain conversant with newly evolving technologies
• Experience in planning and setting priorities
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively to accomplish goals
• Experience writing HTML/CSS
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator )
• Familiarity with UI/UX
• Ability to represent the UF Lastinger Center in a professional manner, and interact well with varied constituencies in person and online
