Our Client: is a high complexity CLIA-certified and CAP-accredited Clinical Reference Laboratory based in Indianapolis, IN. They are a family led business that services multiple client types (Pain Mgmt. Clinics, Health & Wellness Centers, General Practice, and Partner/Clients Labs).

Their team possesses substantial Clinical Laboratory and Management experience ensuring both scientific and operational excellence. Their recent reinvestment in their main high complexity laboratory and office space is one example of this balanced approach and winning formula.

What they need: We are looking for an experienced Clinical Lab Manager that will be chiefly responsible for supervising the work of clinical laboratory scientists and technicians, developing lab safety policies that align with CAP accreditation standards, and overseeing budgetary and administrative responsibilities. This position will provide technical guidance to staff, complete QA functions, provide training and competency for all staff, review results, consult with clients and sales staff and ensure that all regulatory requirements are met while also helping support the direction of Clinical Lab priorities

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring all shifts in the department are properly staffed
  • Perform bench work as needed and maintain proficiency/competency in technical operations
  • Directly supervise, train, and mentor laboratory personnel of the department
  • Prepare and maintain Quality Assurance records and documents
  • Engage in continuous process and service level improvements
  • Supervise the day to day operations and at least 5 direct reports
  • Ensure all work is in accordance with state and Federal regulations
  • Monitor daily workflow in the lab and schedule adequate assay coverage
  • Research and resolve any production or performance errors
  • Ensure laboratory tests are accurately performed and results are reported in a timely manner
  • Evaluate new process improvements and make appropriate recommendations
  • Monitor market and competition to identify new business opportunities
  • Meet regularly with direct reports to provide coaching and feedback for their development
  • Ensure all equipment is being properly maintained through Quality Control measures

Requirements:

  • Strong technical knowledge and or experience in molecular microbiology
  • Must be comfortable handling COVID and other infectious samples
  • Previous experience with method development and validation of molecular diagnostic tests
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a CLIA laboratory with at least three years as a supervisor
  • Strong written and verbal communication as well as presentation skills
  • High level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts on as needed basis
  • Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and MS Office
  • Understanding of laboratory policies and procedures as well as budgeting and forecasting
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
  • Comfort making critical decisions in a changing environment
  • Qualify as Technical Supervisor as per CAP requirements
  • Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations
  • Must be able to pass a standard Color Blindness test
