Job Description
THE POSITION

The Department of Human Services (DHS), Bureau of Juvenile Justice Services (BJJS), Southeast Regional office is seeking a dedicated Clerical Assistant 2 that will provide quality clerical support services in an organization that takes pride in helping youth.
This is a highly responsible position, which functions as a Clerical Assistant 2 and is supervised by the Court Liaison Program Specialist Supervisor. The individual in this position provides direct support to his/her supervisor and to the Juvenile Court Services Unit.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This is a highly responsible position that provides direct support to their supervisor and to the Juvenile Court Services Unit. This position is responsible for organizing the day-to-day operations of the office, implementing various office related policies and procedures, preparing reports and correspondence, developing recommendations, drafting letters and memorandums, filing and maintaining a functional filing system and performing a variety of administrative functions.
This position involves discretion and diplomacy in dealing with the public and various offices of Federal, State and local government. The position requires confidentiality, as it deals with, but not limited to, sensitive material relating to facilities, youth and families.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
  • Telework: You will have the opportunity to work from home (telework), part-time up 2 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed Internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Philadelphia.
  • Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week.
  • Work hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (commonwealth title); or
Other Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:
  • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
